Old public clothes washing facilities
This comes all the way from the times the country was in dictatorship and actually help people in the interior a lot. One of the things "Salazar" made for everyone. BAsic facilities, in this case, countryside villages, had at least some basic needs..
Before you enter the village you have this huge pile of cork. Problably tons of cork will be exported all around the golbe. Cork trees are still a major industrie for the region which gives lots of money for the local companies and families.
Everytime people take the cork out of the trees, they paint a number on the tree to remember the year the cork was taken out.
Houses here and like in all villages and town in the country have this nice way of being painted. Striped houses with lots of different colors.
Take a look and notice how people decorate their yard. Oon the picture you have a house on "Rua da LIberdade" which has the yard with at least 6 cats.
Vinyards are also another big industry here in the region. The Alentejo region has a specific "Rota dos vinhos" "Wine route" from which this little village makes part of.
