This is a truly imposing monument. Looking west, the Porta de Evora, one of the five entrance gates built into the walls first raised by King Dinis in the Middle Ages, dominates the wide avenue leading to the fortified town.
The Castle was reconstructed in the 17th century due to the War of Restoration of Portuguese Independence, in which it played an active part.
Interesting architecture and lights on this square. If you look close you could say that pcture belongs to any Arab city in the Middle East. The building you see that resembles Arab is the new updated city market.
You must leave your visit a bit to a late time or just spend the night in town. The Palace Square is a must here to see in town. The lights are very well organized giving a very secial look the the whole square.
I think I was a bit lucky to get type of light to make these night pictures actually. I got full moon which gave a very nice lighting to the whole monument scenario.
