    • What I love about Marinha Grande is the small marine town feel. When walking or driving around the town, you will see colourful houses covered in tile and painted in light hues of blues, yellows and pinks, with palm trees planted in the front yards. The people here are mostly of the middle class who make their living on production of glass and metal products. Family values are apparent and members will often kiss each other first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. Ain't that sweet! No wonder Vadim wants to move here ...

    I will never forget the first Christmas I spent away from home. I flew to Lisbon, where my friends from Schloss Hofen, Renato and Vadim met me. Renato's father took us on a drive through Lisbon and up north through Narare. This may be a gross generalization, but a typical Portuguese family, although not the richest, will offer all they have and share a lot of love and food with you. Luka, when he arrived 2 days later, also got this feeling. I think that Vadim and I had an excellent time at Renato's family home here.
