tourist office by yumyum The lady at the tourist office was very helpful. Don’t just ask for a map but do as I did and ask what there is to see. That way we were pointed out all the main sights including the rocky coastline, the citadel, the old town wall, the beaches and the place where you enquire about boat trips to Berlenga island. Pavilhao Mar e Sol at Berlenga by haiamisa I love eating fish. The Portugal is the definite place for me to eat at and the best fish meals I had while in Portugal were in Katekero in Peniche and at Pavilhao Mar e Sol at Berlenga.
Grilled whole freshly caught fish with potatoes and the portuguese salad with tomatoes and onions. Seagulls around me. Breeze from the sea. I was in heaven! Leave a Comment

Seagull on Berlenga by haiamisa I love fishing ports and Peniche is one of the busiest in Portugal. You can smell the sea, feel the humidity in the air, hear the screaming seagulls, watch the boats leave and return, see the fishermen with their catch and carrying the nets and other equipment. There are great fish/seafood restaurants where you can have most wonderful meals while watching the sea.
Seagulls are my favorite birds. The screaming seagulls bring me back childhood memories of summers of Finland and of many other places too. I have always loved seagulls. You will see and hear them alot in Peniche and on the Berlenga island. It is wonderful to wake up to the screams of seagulls as we did in Peniche when we slept the window open. Leave a Comment
