Though S Martinho is a very calm beach, ideal for kids, Salir is even quieter, with the river ending in the bay with a wider and shallow mouth.
The river is treated, and pollution, an old risk, is gone. At its side, the dunes, when the sun gets weaker, become a luna park.

There is a wonderful boardwalk which joins the sleepy beach village of Salir do Porto with its more bustling neighbour of Sao Martinho do Porto. This exhilarating walk takes around 20 minutes and curves around the shell-shaped bay along the the beach. Enjoy gorgeous views, watch the fishing boats and windsurfers and see the birdlife close at hand on this stunning coastal walk. A pic-nic paradise!

What I found disappointing about Salir do Porto was that at low tide the beach drains into the São Martinho do Porto bay. However, it’s still a great place for family fun playing on the sand dunes when the sun gets weaker and taking romantic walks on the boardwalk.

There is a romantic boardwalk that joins the São Martinho do Porto bay to a calm and quieter Salir do Porto beach. This exhilarating boardwalk curves around the shell shaped bay of S. Martinho and runs along the beach to Salir. Fantastic views of the windsurfers, fishing boats and birdlife on this romantic walk.
