The restaurant for Saturday night's VT dinner meeting was COSTA DO ESTORIL.
We were able to taste an array of traditional Portuguese specialties as appetizers. My favourite was the carving station where tender slices of Portuguese ham was sliced right before you. I think I had seconds and thirds - soooo good. There were also sausages, cheeses, seafood including shrimp, fried zucchini slices, etc. I think most of us filled up on these dishes. Main course was a cod fish dish, with little bits of other seafood like shrimp and crab. Dessert table was awesome - fresh fruits, pastries. All drinks included - cokes, juices, beer and wine. Total cost for the evening was 30 Euros per person. We had paid 30 Euros for a buffet of traditional Portuguese dishes, which was followed by a 3 course meal! - many of us had already filled up at the buffet tables! All drinks were included for the night too -
A great venue, with tables set up outside for the buffet, which included grilled sausages and a black pudding (blood pudding), hams, cheeses, salads, marinaded fish, seafood, vegetables, breads and some unidentifiable dishes.
A sangria type cocktail, wines, beers, spirits and juices got the party underway!
While we were all eating and chatting outside, Stephanie and her band of helpers were setting up the tables inside, with VT goodies for everyone.
Once we were let inside, there was a lively atmosphere - some tables being a bit rowdier than others! ;-) - Anyone who's checked out my video will know which camp I was in.
Besides eating and drinking, there was the meeting of old friends and new, signing of postcards and Virtual Attendee cards, swapping gifts, much camera clicking and videoing, singing and Mexican Waves!
Teresa, Antonio and Stephanie made speeches. Prizes were awarded and more VT gifts were handed out.
The next VT Euromeet was announced too - May 2010 - Krakow, hosted by the Matcrazys- Matt and Urszula!
As Saturday rolled into Sunday, People started to head back to their homes or accommodation. Some of us headed back to Cascais for more liquid intake at O'Neils (VT HQ) then on for dancing into the early hours.
There were many hugs and kisses with plans to meet up again.
It had been a great night!

The food court was pretty decent as a whole, and also had a branch of an Indian (yay, more veggie choices) that I enjoyed at the Oriente mall.

I like fish, but my wife is not so keen, however the waiter listened to what she liked, & chose the selection for her. It was superb. We had a local wine & it accompanied the fish perfectly. The cooking area is inside the restaurant, which adds to the ambience. It was very busy on the evening we were there, so deservedly popular with the local residents.

This has a good location on the promenade, so you can walk before or after your meal. Promenading is very popular with the Portuguese. There are bars & a disco nearby. Our food was fine, rather than outstanding, although a Spanish lady at the next table said her fish was excellent. The restaurant has modern decor inside, but most people prefer to eat outside.

There was a wide variety of starters; a bit of evrything Portugal has to offer. The covered terras was the place to start and offered enough possibilities to meet whoever you wanted.
The main course was served inside and the dessert was self service at the buffet.
The waiters did a fantastic job, although we were a noisy crowd.
