Favorite thing: Shops are opened from Monday to Friday, between 09.00hrs and 19.00hrs, with lunch break from 13.00hrs to 15.00hrs.

On Saturdays, shops open only in the morning, from 09.00hrs to 13.00hrs.

The exception is the shopping centres that do a 10.00hrs to 22.00hrs stretch 7 days a week.
The large Supermarkets also stay open until 22.00 hrs, 7 days a week.

Banks are usually opened from Monday to Friday, between 08.30hrs and 15.00hrs. Exchange houses operate everyday between 09.00hrs and 13.00hrs and from 14.00hrs to 19.00hrs.

    Chiado

Favorite thing: Chiado is one of Lisbon's most popular districts for shopping and coffee. Its famous Cafe Brasileira attracts both locals and tourists, especially its statue of Fernando Pessoa, a famous Portuguese poet that used to write in this cafe.

Favorite thing: After looking for some shoes at Baixa and Chiado, we decided to find local wine and handicrafts and head to shopping malls.

The best ones are Amoreiras and Vasco da Gama (at Parque des Nacões).

Favorite thing: You must buy one of the famous rooster home as souvenier. It is the Barcelos rooster. We bought ours from a yellow coloured souvenier shop in Belem, near the huge church. (there is a very famous pattiserie shop near the souvenier shop.)

Fondest memory: The rooster is the emblem of Portugal. If you have seen the worldwide famous Nandos chicken chainshop emblem - it is just that one.
The rooster is produced in many colours. Placed in the kitchen it is supposed to bring good luck. Story had it that a man was brought to court to face something he did not do, and he said to the judge that if the cock crows, he is innocent...and so did the cock crow and the man was set free!!!
