Café a Brasileira, presumably the oldest café in Lisbon. This is a very nice place to have a bica (a very small cup of coffee, bit like espresso) with a sweet Pastel de Natas or just anything else you might fancy. Take into account that because of the history this is also quite a touristy spot. This also has to do with the bronze statue of Fernando Pessoa in front of the café. Almost every tourist has a picture taken with him or her and the statue
Location: R. Garrett 120, 1200 LISBOA. Opening hours: Everyday 08.00 - 02.00 hrs....
fans of ricardo reis and jose sarmago and fernando pessoa will not be disappointed.
a tourist destination so expect the usual touristy tattiness
We arrived in Lisbon in the morning, by train, and this cafe was the first thing we saw when we got out of metro. Later we found out its a very famous cafe :-)
This famous café is located at Rua Garret in Chiado and is a good place to have a light lunch brake or an aperitive before dinner.
Built in 1895, this old café is beautifully decorated with golden mirrors in Jugend style.
Favorite Dish: The coffee of course.
...The sitting bronze statue in front of Café Brasileira is a frequent customer, poet Fernando Pessoa, who must have had such good service and decided to stay a little bit longer, lol.
