When you visit Belem you MUST also visit the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos!

Also in Belem is the Padrao dos Descobrimentos, a monument where an elevator brings you up (free for people with a Lisbon card) and you have a great view over Belem and the Rio Tejo .

Very close to the Torre de Belem is the Monumento dos Descobrimentos, since it is on the way you can also take a look at this memorial to the big Portuguese explorers.

Designed by Fransisco da Arruda and Built between 1514 and 1520, the tower known as Torre de São Vicente de Belém was a key element of the defencive complex at the mouth of the Tague.
