VARIOUS SINTRA SHOPS: SOUVENIRS - CERAMIC TILES - EMBROIDERED LINENS

I didn[t spend a lot of time shopping in Sintra, but there were a few lovely shops selling wonderful and colourful ceramics. Many good souvenir stores, with my favourite item being embroidered linens such as tablecloths, hand towels, aprons and decorative tea towels. Also many stores selling Portugal's symbol - the Rooster.
There were some souvenir t-shirts - all reasonably priced. And some wonderful bakery shops too.

There are some delightful shops in Sintra, including tiny little stores with not much room to even pass someone inside. There is a real village feel as you wander from shop to shop and all the usual tourist type buys are available especially some of Portugal’s beautiful ceramics, embroidery and lace.

You can find some great ceramics and many other interesting gift items in the shops adjacent to Praça de Republica. I bought a beautiful candle holder, a sweatshirt for my nephew and a few other trinkets at a shop here.

    The best salesperson

The town is full of shops that carry many of the local crafts like pottery, ceramics and lace.

There is a little shop up one of the alleys that has some of the best artists and some of the best prices I found anywhere in the 3 years of living in Portugal. Go see her and say hello and look around.

What to buy: I like the ceramics so I tend to promote the tiles and pottery that is available.

What to pay: Some of the prices are a little high but they are worth it. The trick is if you find something you like... buy it.... you will regret NOT getting it when you get home.

    Ceramic: Ceramics

    Sintra - Ceramics

What to buy: Plates, cups, glaces... hand made and hand painted. Like in Alentejo district, Sintra also has a small industry of ceramics. The paints reveal the old Sintra, the romantic Sintra.

    Azulejaria: Azulejos (ceramic tiles)

    Sintra - Azulejo

In Azulejarias you'll find copies of the most beautifull tiles "azulejos" in the region. This one in the photo is a real copy of the Moorish fountain tiles.
