Fiat Punto by Bwana_Brown By the time we had finished our 9-day, 2500 km trip around Portugal we had grown fond of our little Budget rental - a Fiat Punto. It turned out to be just the right size for small villages and could do just fine on the 4-lane superhighways as well. I did not even find the Portugese to be crazy drivers as some reports had suggested (could it be because I may be half-crazy myself?). Altogether, for the 9-day trip, the rental charge was E365 (US$450) and gas (petrol) cost about E1.09 per litre. Still, it was nice to deliver it back to the airport by about 3:30 PM with no extra scratches on it! We still had not eaten, so it was time for a taxi ride into our hotel in Lisbon - where we ended up having our picnic in our room! After that, my wife passed out on the bed for a couple of hours. She later figured out that she had been so up-tight about our morning traffic jam drive into Lisbon, followed by the hairpin turns on the Serra de Sintra tour and finally worrying about the rental car that she just mentally was out of it by then! The photo is of a picnic we enjoyed much earlier in our trip, in a field of wild flowers not far from Monsanto. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Just to confirm that there is no train between Sintra and Cascais but that the buses operated by Scotturb (www.scotturb.com) provide a reliable connection. It is the number 417 bus, which runs about once every hour, taking about 25 minutes for the journey. It stops at both railway stations. Timetable here http://www.scotturb.com/inverno2008/417.htm Enjoy your trip.
