Beautiful and typical for small villages also Alegrete has some nice paths in the back of the gardens. You can see them when getting out of the castleo on the back side via the iron stairs (see photo3). If you are here the right time, there might be very nice flowers like during my visit.
A narrow street squeezes along the Igreja da Misericórdia. The building originates from the 17th century and is used as a mortuary today. Its architectural style is related to the neighboring Igreja Matriz, both influenced by Italy.
Closeby the Parish Church you can see the clock tower that is built of stone. It overlooks the village and the surrounding area. The clock tower was built in the 17th century.
