    Lamprey rice it's a very typical dish.
    Some people like it very much, others doesn't at all...
    Lamprey is a very long ciclóstomo from the river.

    Favorite Dish: Here is a recipe of the Arroz de Lampreia

    1 Lampreia

    1 dl Azeite (aprox);

    1 cebola pequena;

    50 g de presunto;

    Rama de alho;

    Pimenta preta em grão;

    Noz-moscada;

    vinagre

    Sal

    Arranja-se a lampreia como habitualmente, recolhendo as ovas e deitando o sangue para um recipiente com vinagre.

    Depois de completamente limpa, passa-se a lampreia por vinagre e reserva-se este vinagre. Desfazem-se as ovas em vinagre. Junta-se o vinagre que serviu para lavar a lampreia.

    O azeite deve cobrir o fundo do tacho e junta-se-lhe a cebola picada e o presunto cortado em bocados, a rama de alho, a pimenta preta partida e sal.

    Tapa-se o tacho e deixa-se a lampreia "suar" sobre lume extremamente brando. Se for necessário, junta-se um pouco de vinho tinto durante a cozedura.

    Quando a lampreia estiver cozida, juntam-se as ovas e o, sangue e deixa-se apurar.

    Tempera-se com noz-moscada.

    Serve-se a lampreia sobre fatias de pão frito em azeite, depois de se terem retirado os bocados de presunto.

    Receita da zona de Valpaços, onde é costume cozinhar-se na véspera de ser servida.

    Was my doctor when I was a little girl and lived in Lagos, until I was 9 years old.
    Today I knew that he was born here in Penhascoso, and he spend his hollidays here. He donnated his house and contents to a center for aged people and in return they built this statue in his honor:
    Homage of the people of Penhascoso, to the doctor Manuel P. Rodrigues Clarinha 30.05.1904 to 16.11.1993.

    Dr. Clarinha
