Ponto Final: Eating inside the Tejo river

by Karlithus Written Apr 4, 2013

Here, you eat almost inside the river! You can sit inside or outside.

During the winter, they give you some blankets so you won't get cold and can still enjoy the views!

The food was really good, and the view is something you can't get in many places.
If you don't like cats you may not sit outside, as there are plenty of them. All very friendly!

At the docks of Almada, called Cacilhas, are located many fish and seafood restaurants, nothing fancy and you don't get any fantastic views, but here you will certainly eat well. These places line the streets adjacent to the ferry port. They also serve meat dishes, usually grilled, but they are best known for catch from the sea. Meals are very reasonably priced -- 35 euros would be a full meal from starters to dessert and coffee, with a small jar of vinho da casa.

These restaurants are usually frequented by locals, including those who come over from Lisbon, but some tourists have already discovered this place and have started to trickle in. It is certainly not touristy (yet anyway) unlike those found in Lisbon's historic center, and it shows in the quality of the food and service, in short, it is value for money. Menus in most places have English translation.
