Watch the doors closing the water of the river

It's amazing to climb the river in a dam!
Can you imagine how it is possible to climb or go down in order to overcame the diference of water levels in the dam?
Some boats (in our case, 1, 2 or 3) enter a large box with high walls. The box has a rectangle shape, but show us only 3 of its 4 faces. We enter by the one that is missing. Then, slowly, the forth wall appears (sometimes moving vertically, other times moving horizontally from both sides) and so, the box remains closed with its 4 faces. Then, the water rise inside the box and our boat rise to, of course, so at the end we are at the water level in the upper side of the dam.
