Ponto Grande is located on the main street in Pinhao. Opening for dinner at 7:30 - 8:00 pm. Typical chunky table and chairs, tiled walls. A real family ambience, you fell you're at someone's home. We met the owner on the street in the afternoon as I was looking for a menu in the window. He was very nice, spoke English and said come back at 7:30. Our Portuguese is extremely limited and we nodded when they rattled off what we thought were specials, etc. But Ponto Grande appears to serve one menu, whatever has been cooking/roasting all day = the homey feel. We had a delicious 5 course meal. Starting with a small glass of port, bread, olives. Next is homemade sausage then soup. A large platter of pork, falling off the bones, with rice. Next beef, carrots and potatoes roasted together in a broth. We managed to squeeze in dessert - flan or fruit salad. This entire feast with a jug of house red was 38 euros for the two of us. A very memorable meal.
