Ribeira nightlife: Praça da Ribeira
Around the square, several bars and restaurants can be found. The interesting thing on these bars are that they're cheaper than any others in the city. Also the people that fill them by night are mostly students.
The relaxed atmosphere is contagious.
Ribeira nightlife: Relaxed atmosphere
In Ribeira several bars and restaurants can be found... the curious thing is that most of them have a funny name. As an example this picture was taken in a bar called Uma velha tinha um gato, which means "An old Lady had a cat"...
A restaurant called Chez Lapin is also a must... and there's an alive rabbit there which reminded me of the Monty Python's movie "The quest for the Holy Graal"!!!

Ribeira nightlife: Ribeira
Ribeira is the area to go if you want to spend a fun evening. There are lots of bars, pubs and discos in that area. Some of these places are pretty small, so it may get crowded. Bear in mind that for the Portuguese, a 'night out' only begins around 11 p.m. and often ends when the sun comes up. So don't be too surprised if you go to a bar earlier in the evening and there isn't too many people there.
Dress Code: Some discos prefer that you dress somewhat 'sharp', but most places don't have any special dress requirements.
Ribeira's bars: Ribeira
What during the day is a nice familiar neighboorhoud becomes a student night spot with loads of small outdoor bars and pubs.
In the last few years it's popularity has been reducing due to the new places that came up in town. But it still is a good choice for one to have a good evening.
Dress Code: Informal, no need to dress up.

Ribeira nightlife: Find a chair and start drinking
This is where everybody gathers at night, and we personally met people to go out and do things. Be careful of those Portugues women!
