Porto has its own international airport. It's a bit out of town so the best way of reaching it is with the Aerobus which leaves from the bottom of Av. dos Aliados, just up from the McDonalds. The airport is serviced by Portugal's national airline, TAP, who fly to and from many destinations across Europe and the world for very reasonable prices. I bought a ticket to Lisbon from Frankfurt, but returning from Porto, for 233 euros, the same price as a simple return to Lisbon. Those budget flight specialists Ryanair have also started regular flights to Porto (From London and Frankfurt Hahn) as have a number of other budget airlines. Leave a Comment

Our Ryanair flight left Liverpool at 17.25, and arrived at Porto airport 30 minutes earlier than our expected arrival time of 20.05. This meant that as we had hand luggage only, we were able to connect with the Aerobus (This useful service ended at 20.00hrs) My flight had cost 29 GBP return (1p each way, plus taxes etc, and credit card charge)(cheaper if paying with debit card) Seated on the right side of the plane, I had a great view as we flew quite low over the illuminated city, and the River Douro, before landing at the nearby Francisco Sa Carneiro airport. The airport is quite modern, with areas still under construction (The metro connection to and from the city centre wasn't ready at the time of our visit) A word of warning - the corridor from passport control to the exit is a LONG walk. Luckily my small case was on wheels, so the approximately half a mile walk, wasn't too difficult. Also, when returning to the airport, (Our flight was 20.30 hours, so needed to be at the airport for 18.30) Allow plenty of time for getting through the rush hour traffic. The Aerobus is recommended in preference to a metered taxi! The journey is usually about 40 minutes, but took over an hour in the busy traffic. UPDATE**** The long awaited metro link from airport to city centre is now in operation. The Duty Free shop has a good selection of Ports, and Portuguese wines, plus a small selection of local foodstuffs. I bought some marinated olives, a tin of Bachoula, Chocolate and a bottle of white port. Ryanair also fly from Dublin, Frankfurt, London Stanstead, and Paris (Beavais) to Porto Leave a Comment

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto, Portugal) by Redang, 1 more photos I don't know when they inaugurated this airport, but it seems to be a brand new. The best way to reach the city centre is by metro: Line E (violet). It takes about 35 minutes. The second pic shows the metro station at the airport. There are versions in other languages. by Elainehead The airport in Porto is actually located in a nearby town called Maia, which is about 11 km away from the centre of Porto. If you don't anyone to pick you up or any rented car, don't worry, just take a taxi or an 'Aerobus'(reservation needed for this). TAXI: On a Saturday, from the airport to Holiday Inn Garden Court, I spent about 15,84 Euros + 1,50 Euros (luggage) and this taxi driver showed me the most important monuments in Porto. On Sunday, from my hotel to the airport, I spent about 18 Euros (rate + luggage included). AEROBUS (arrival reservation): http://www.stcp.pt/pt/mapas/aerobus.htm (site in Portuguese). The departure reservation must be made at your hotel (if your hotel have an agreement with the bus company). Definitely by foot, so don't forget your most comfortable pair of shoes. Porto international Airport is around 12KM from Porto Centre. Taxi around 20 Euro, journey time 20 mins. Allow extra time at peak periods. Local taxis are plentiful and fairly inexpensive. Bus system is good. Small tram service around centre. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

by claudiapires Porto is served by Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport, that is +/- 10 Km away from the city. There exists a bus route, called AeroBus, providing a fast connection between the airport and the city's leading hotels and downtown Porto, including of course the Tuela Porto and Fenix Porto Hotels. The AeroBus leaves every 30m (from 7am to 7pm) and it costs 2,49 euros. For more information (timetables, etc) visit the AeroBus Web Site. Other alternative is to use a taxi. From the airport to the hotel the price should be around 13 euros. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane
