While you can find many bars/restaurants in the Bairro Alto area of Lisbon offering dinner with traditional dances and fado music, I found this bar/restaurant offering good fado singings with reasonably good meal at reasonable prices. Many are tourists traps obviously with high prices, bad food and mediocre singing. There is no stage, the fado singers just stand amid the dinners and sing. It's great.Although the singers also offer their CDs, you are not obligated to buy.Go early and get a table. They sing several songs every half hour.
This is one of the most brilliant club's in Lisbon. Very often many discret hollywood personnages hang out there! Also it's a big club with 3 floors. On the roof one nice bar with the view of the dock's. On the second floor you have a nice trip hop kind of sound with local designers furniture all around exposed for you to try it out! And in the firsth floor you have the main dance floor, and what a sound ladies and gentleman! Some of the best D.J.'s in the world spinned there! But dont forget very discret club! Only the best hang out there! P.s. check out the chandelier made out of tampons!! Dress very nice because locals are very fashionnable!
I love Bairro Alto! Its old, windy, and one of the few places on earth where one can go shopping for clothes and drink until the wee hours of the morning.Bars are often tiny, and the crowds spill into the streets... this is a good thing really if you like to watch people. I feel strangely safe in this area, much safer than I do in most American cities out at night... The atmosphere is happy, but generally not agressive. Bad things certainly can happen, but it isn't the norm.Meet as many Portuguese people as you can, and you will have a lovely night. There is an ambience in the air that anything is possible.. its true.I suggest drinking a few capirhinhas.. its the finest drunk on earth. They might be Brazilian, but the Portuguese do a good job too. Have a flaming absinto if you're feeling balsy, or just poetic. Ginja does not mix well with anything, and should be avoided at all costs.....

The best nightlife in the country is found in the southern province of Algarve. In towns like Albufeira and Lagos is a variety of bars, pubs, and clubs for all tastes. But the capital of the country also has a growing number of nightlife offers. Besides the traditional Fado clubs (see my Lisbon page), Lisbon has several famous clubs such as 'Lux' and a pleasant dock area filled with restaurants, clubs, and bars.If drinking and clubbing is not for you, besides Fado, check out the local theaters for classical music, ballet, and theater performances. Europe's largest casino in Estoril, right next door to Lisbon, often has several good shows with internationally-known artists. Check with the tourism offices of the towns you're visiting for the latest shows and concerts in town.
The waterfront has turned Lisbon into one of Europe's most swinging, naughtiest cities, renowned for its nightlife. The youngerset start in Santo amaro and AlcantaraDocks and party till 7 am at discos and clubs. As you are formal or casual.

The biggest casino in Europe is situated in Estoril, just outside Lisbon. Of course you can go gambling here, but there's more. There's live music almost every day, there's a big jazz cafe inside and one of the biggest and most beautiful water organs oustide the building.

Like the Alfama, the Bairro Alto (Upper City) preserves the characteristics of the Lisbon of yore. In location and population, it once was the heart of the city. Many of its buildings survived the 1755 earthquake. Today, it's home to some of the finest fado cafes in Lisbon, making it a center of nightlife. It's also a fascinating place to visit during the day, when its charming, narrow cobblestone streets and alleys, lined with ancient buildings, can be appreciated in the warm light coming off the sea. This area comes alive at night, luring visitors and natives with fado, food, discos, and small bars. Lisbon's budget restaurants, the tascas, abound, together with more deluxe eateries. Victorian lanterns light the streets, and people stroll leisurely.

Portugal have a great night life almost everywhere. We have night until 6 am sometimes more.Regular bars are open till 2 o'clock morning, summer bars till 4 and discos, for dancing sometimes are open until sunshinesAlgarve have a lots of kind of bars and some disco's too.Lisbon have a lot tooAnd all the country
Just outside our hotel is where the FOUNTANis located. There could have been two!But the CITY at night is PRETTY.The Fountain is located in:Rossia Squarein front of the D. Maria II National Theatre.
