Various: Fado

by acemj

The most well-known musical form in Portugal is the Fado, which is most easily seen in Lisbon and Coimbra, but can be seen throughout the country. The Coimbra version is supposed to be the purest form, so if you have the opportunity, see it performed there. My experience with Fado wasn't the best (see my Lisbon page for details), but don't let that dissuade you from seeing a performance. Just be prepared to pay for it. Most shows are performed at restaurant/fado clubs that charge a premium for the entertainment during your meal.

Various: Take a stroll

by acemj

Most of Portugal is fairly safe with the usual precautions, so if you like to get out at night, you'll often find that some of the monuments throughout the country are illuminated and many of the streets are pleasant for a stroll.

When a bar is a pastry shop

by TinKan

Each and every town has some sort of Disco or nightclub and a bar of some sort. I have had the most fun in some of the smaller town in the local bars (which are pastry shops during the day) having a drink and listening to local music than in the bigger clubs like in Lisbon. The challenge is the language as most people in the little towns do not speak English and my Portuguese is real bad. If you stay in a small town or village try a night on the town in the local bar. You just never know what will happen.

Lux Fragil: Sleepless in Lisbon - Wild Nights...

by elmasri

Lux - One of the biggest and nicer spots to go.Queens - Very trendy as well.Indochina - Not to everyone's liking, but great for a first drink outside in the terrace overlooking the river Tagus.Industria - Another nice place.W's - What used to be 'Alcantra Mar' (the best and most beautiful club we've ever had), as the name says it's in Alcantra, too. No comment. They ruined a perfect and memorial place. However I recomend going to the Alcantra Café, just next door. It's a Bar and Restaurant and here, from the decoration, you can have at least an idea of what the club used to be, although it wasn't exactly the same, they both blended in style. Shame...All of these night spots have great music. Mainly House, although they have some techno and garage on special nights. At "W" wednesday is Lady's Night and many other clubs are now following suit and organising nights where lady's drink free.A...

by acilina

This one of the most popular bars in the city. The Bon Vivant, in the rue 25 de Abril, which I have seen mentioned by a girl, eleanorbueza, in Virtual Tourist. But there are many more in the surroundingsShe said:Bon Vivant: wander around the winding cobblestone alleys of Lagos and you'll eventually arrive at this fantastic club. Life is good there, hence its name. Unique Qualities: One late night, my buddies and I were jumping from bar to bar, looking for a crowded non-smoky place with great dance music, and we found it at last. No cover charge, just walk in, buy a beer, and jump around. You'll party to all kinds of music: American R&B, House, Spanish hits, Old school, Brazilian grooves, you name it! When you finally stumble out of the club at 7am, you'll feel energized and ready for a new day of your wonderful life! You will learn the lyrics to Spanish tunes and meet some beautiful...

by caprice4u2

Right, so I have the tea bags,(see below;-) Ive got my sequence all mixed up,no surprise!) Im back at the apartment, my mum and aunty,(I forgot my aunt was there too...hmm).. Well, Im angling for a night out, there is talk of 'hitting' the local restaurant or getting in the car and visiting a fishing village...Well while they argued about that, I took to sitting on the balcony doing my make up...well one has to do these things you know!... So I am looking over the balcony and I have to say, these rather nice chaps walked past, (I was 2 floors up), casting my eyes (in a disinterested fashion, you understand;-) in their direction, I glimpsed a guy with a guitar and all sorts of hubub going on in the restaurant across at the other side of the pool...LOTS Of people were arriving, and rather 'dashing' they were too! Anyway, back to the guys walking past..they saw me and started to shout up to...

I took loads of really glam clothes........Do yourself a favour, DON'T, take your jeans and t.shirt and throw in a jumper for good measure. This is not a place to flex on the dance floor, this isn't a critisism, but a fact...you can eat, you can have a drink, but in terms of a 'groove'...forget it, it ain't happenin'
