Favorite thing: It really does not matter if you are a gardener or not, I think everyone would appreciate the gardens in Madiera, they are a definate thing to see whilst visiting the island.

Favorite thing: The Christmas lights are fantastic in Funchal, and also the Nativity Scenes are very nicely presented

Favorite thing: By night, at Santa Catarina Park it is possible sometimes to watch the desert Islands in the horizont. It's a wonderfull experience!

Favorite thing: Well the President is so nice that he allows the public to view his gardens. There are nice views over the harbour and also you can see the parrots he keeps in avaries amongst the tropical shrubs.

Fondest memory: One of my favourite places in Funchal was the indoor fruit and veg market - such a riot of colour and smells to please the senses. More of this in the must see section.

Favorite thing: You can't fail to notice this bright coloured building with its cannons and rounded turret. Its the Palacio de Sao Lourenco - a 16th century fortress which houses Madeira's military headquarters.

Favorite thing: Visit Funchal, Madeira, called the Pearl of the Atlantic. As in all Portuguese cities, the tiled sidewalks are beautiful and unique. And do take a ride in the wicker basket.
