This cathedral is really worth a visit. dates from the 16th century - 1507. Manuelino and gothic styles can be found also.
Take a look to the ceiling, it's painted carved wood.

Like in Rio de Janeiro santa Cruz has also the statue of the "Cristo Redentor" or Jesus.
It's near the protected area of Garajau. The view are simply fantastic by the sea.

camacha is a samll village that belongs to santa Cruz district. Wicker forniture is done here, and many locals and tourist just come here to buy it.
It's interesting also that it was in Camacha the first time Portuguese played football.

Favorite thing: If we compare Santa Cruz with other regions of the Madeira, we notice that much vegetation does not exist. It is one of the regions most barren of the island. It was here that the first sea reserve of the island was born, Garajau.
