Helpfulness
In Flores time seems not to exist. So no panic if a shop (or the filling station) is supposed to be open at e.g. 8 o'clock, but at 9.30 it is still closed. It is something normal here in Flores…

This Island is the most westerly piece of land in Europe. Due to this fact it's more exposed to the Atlantic climatic changes. Least expected one can be retained on the island for a week... no conditions to fly or sail out of the island.
Thus, the best season of the year to visit the island is at the end of spring/beginning of summer (June and July). This way the risk is lower and the island at this time of the year is even more beautiful.

When I came to this island, I understood why it is called like that. Well, I've seen lot of flowers in Sao Miguel too, but in Flores… the variety and exuberance of the flowers is amazing!
This Island with 142 km2 and a population of 4300 is, in my opinion, the most beautiful of the Azores.
None of the azorean islands has so much waterfalls and small water courses like the Island of Flores.
The island of Flores, most northerly of the Azores group and sited somewhat remote from it's companions, is literally the island of 'flowers', carpeted with numerous wildflowers and hydrangea clusters...
