Ada Favorites

Favorite thing: A beautiful carved fountain is standing on the lawn, along the reception building. It is a pity it is not flowing ! A dry fountain is always something very sad ! It seems it has never been completely set up as it is not sealed but only standing on logs. Certainly, that to make it work is not a priority !

Favorite thing: If you enlarge the photo, you will see in the center, in the middle of the lawn/meadow, three open air showers. Under each of them, a wooden duckboard reprocessed from some pallet of breezeblocks. In the foreground, hidden under a wooden cover, the electric pump that feed the showers. There are also several showers on the beach.

Favorite thing: Garbage cans are collected every morning by a mere farm tractor drawing a farm trailer. It is not fancy but efficient as the whole complex is always perfectly clean ! What I do not know is what they do with the garbage. It is most likely that there is somewhere a hidden dump… Not very environment friendly, but what else can they do ?

Favorite thing: Fortunately, they do not use to trim the road banks one of those noisy machines (cutting with a rotating string or a blade) but a very organic scythe. It is now very seldom that one has the opportunity to watch someone using a scythe. The movement of the scythe man seems so easy and peaceful that it is a pleasure to look at it !

Favorite thing: I know that an English visitor would not call this surface a lawn but a meadow ! Anyway, let it be called a lawn or a meadow, it is mowed in a rustic way, using an old casual farm mowing machine. It has no security protection but it works !

Favorite thing: By the side of the dining room, another dining room of the same size stands on a covered terrace. They do not seem to serve dinner in this part but it works as a bar, though the bar itself is at the other end of the building, which is not really convenient for waiters ! In one corner, on a stage stands a musician that plays some instruments and sings all evening long.

Favorite thing: The dining room is a huge room in the reception building. It has about a hundred tables of four. It is lit by a glass roof on top and by numerous chandeliers hanging from the wooden ceiling. It has a very pompous look, typical of the 60s-70s. This is where breakfast and dinner are served.

Favorite thing: In the lobby of the reception stands a superb artwork. It is a part (trunk ? roots ? branches ?) of an old olive tree that has been polished and varnished. It makes an almost human figure with a very flexible movement !
