A pint of Niksicko

I don’t know how much beer is traditional for Montenegro but I was happy to find out that they do have a nice local own brew beer which is called: Niksicko. There are few kind of Niksicko beer, the normal lager I had as a pint (image I) the gold lager (image II) both are good quality and taste nice when chilled well on a hot day as well as I was happy to find the special Niksicko Dark (Image III) which was fresh dark lager type of beer.

The bell

It is hard not to notice huge bell by the Budva Old Town. It is here since 1963, but most of the locals do not know almost anything about it. This bell was made of wood, so it can not make actual bell sound. It owes its existence to the movie "The Long Ships" in which it was in role of "a great bell, called 'The Mother of Voices', made of pure gold, three times the size of a man, made by monks many years ago...".

Montenegrins love their meat; kebabs(cevapcici), hamburger steaks (pljeskavica), vegetables stuffed with meat and mixed grills of pork, liver, sausage and rissoles. You have to taste these!!
For breakfast: the traditional Balkan burek is a greasy layered pie of cheese and meat.

As in almost every coastal town, fishing is very important for the locals. This picture shows local fisherman selling his catch directly from his boat. People know when about to wait on the dock for the fresh fish.

Mediterranean music festival is the leading domestic, live music festival held next to the ancient walls of Budva, late in June every year. The purpose of the festival is to affirm Mediterranean melodies, offering tens of new hits, widely sang and remembered, every year. A three-day long light-music festival gives young people an opportunity for affirmation. During recent years, the festival has been gaining an international character with more and more guests coming from neighboring, and other countries from the Mediterranean region. The Festival is based on the already tested programme conception, which, apart from the Mediterranean and pop music contest, also includes the participation of domestic and foreign artists, as well as the presentation of haute couture of worldly famous designers.

An international, worldly known festival of theater, music, literature and fine arts, is organized outdoors in Budva every summer, from July 1, till August 20. Numerous plays, dominant in theater life in Montenegro and Serbia, have been created on Budva's stages. Owing to the visits of distinguished theatrical ensembles from the neighboring and other countries, this metropolis of Montenegrin tourism becomes an international capital of most distinguished artists during summer. Apart from the plays, numerous concerts of domestic and worldly known ensembles and most prominent performers of classical music, are also held. Often, the artists give a performance in very acoustic ambiance of ancient sacral buildings in Budva. There are also many fine arts exhibitions in Budva's galleries. Already affirmed painters, as well as those just graduated from the Cetinje Academy are presented here.
