This is the tipical place where every houshold is supplyed with fresh food. Besides some fresh fruits It may be nice to buy dried figs, or apricots, pruns, nuts etc. The homemade oliv oil is something you shouldn't miss. You can use it as a sun cream. The receipt is take a half amount of oliv oil add the same amount of the sea water, shake well and apply. Fantastic stuff for bronze tan and smooth skin.

Gold shops in town: Buying anklets in Herceg-Novi

    Durkovica in Herceg-Novi, Montenegro

Like other parts of Montenegro, Herceg-Novi has a few shops specializing in gold (zlatna) jewelry. The prices of gold jewelry are a bit lower than prices in the US and western Europe and I do so love a bargain!

This picture was taken just after dawn, so the cobblestone streets look very quiet. Give this town a couple more hours, and it will be teeming with people. The activity in town last throughout the day and past midnight.

What to buy: Gold anklets. They are the best.

What to pay: Less than you would spend at Tiffany's.

    Kod Marka: Roman Coins

by KonstantinII Written Aug 27, 2004

    The picture sais it all

We found some Roman Coins in the "Kod Marka" antiquary for just 1-2 euros a piece.
These are found (so the guy told us) from Perast, one of the oldest towns in Adriatic Sea.
Since I know something about the Roman history and I didn't fall for his story that they are from 1 century.
But they are good enough and we picked out some nicely preserved ones (as much as it was posible) with IMP Constantin on them, so that's probably 4th century A.D.

    What to buy: Roman coins

    Kod Marka

You will find there a veeery nice Antiquary shop "Kod Marka" (At Marko's, or Marko's place).
It sells icons, very old swords and guns, silverware, paintings, books, clocks...
As in most antiquary shops there are a lot of worthless things, some veeeery nice and veeery expencive old and preserved things and (at the end) few things "missed by the eye of the antiquary" that are really great and not that expencive.
