At a view point over Slano Jezero, I noticed this small monument, made of a single slab of lime stone carved as a cross. It seemed to be rather old. We I looked at it from closer, I found that rather recently, a text in Cyrillic script had been clumsily painted on it. I deciphered it but was unable to find a single word in any of my dictionaries. The only thing that I have understood was the date of 1919.
Something occurred here in 1919 but what?
Thank you Irena & Vladimir, (VT Zvrlj) for the following translation : 1919 This monnument was erected by the wife to her husband Joko S. Krivokapic who had been shoot by youth from Nikšić on the justice of God.
Favorite thing: Slano Jezero means “Salt lake” ("white lake"). It is a karstic lake that lies not far from Nikšić, on the road to Dubrovnik. It is shallow and has a very indented form with a great many small islands. It makes a very scenery landscapes.
Favorite thing: The bridge of Moštanici stands a few kilometers after Nikšić, on the road to Dubrovnik. It is one of the oldest Roman bridges in Montenegro. Built in stones, the proportions of its arches are perfect. It is 5.5 meters high with arches 2 m high and and the side is 2.3 m. However, I had not found more information about it.
