Street in Skadarlija by ruki Skadarlija, the old bohemian quarter of Belgrade dates back to late 19th and early 20th century. It was back then when its kafane (taverns and restaurants) were a meeting place for many of the greatest figures of the cultural scene of the period. It is often compared with the Montmartre in Paris, both for its appearance and the cheerful, vigorous artists' atmosphere. This part of town took shape in the first half of 19th century and Skadarska Street was traced in 1872 each house being given its number. From the name of the street the affectionate term "Skadarlija" was created. Back then, many writers, actors, painters and journalists lived in Skadarlija. It assumed a definite bohemian character when "Dardanelles" a famous tavern was demolished in 1901. It's trusted clients then moved to the taverns in Skadarlija, bringing along the bohemian lifestyle and spirit. Here, many distinguished domestic and foreign guests "spent their best days - by night". Today, as a tourist attraction, Skadarlija offers a variety of well known restaurants like "Tri šešira", "Ima dana", "Dva jelena", "Skadarlija", "Zlatni bokal" and "Dva bela goluba", as well as galleries, antiques and souvenirs shops.
The restaurants in Skadarlija traditionally promote the national cuisine, but their offer includes international dishes as well. Nearly all restaurants also have live music with a traditional repertoire. Leave a Comment

by ruki If you want to experience a really good atmosphere and ambient you must to visit SARAN! It’s fish and national and international resturant with very long tradition. To be honest, Serbian cuisine is international cuisine. It has been shaped in the tempestuous history by the overlapping influence of many nations like turkish, hungarian, greek, italian.... But the most valuable here is music and orchestra „ Duge Noci“ Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Kej oslobođenja 53, 11080 ZemunPhone: +381 11 618-235Directions: Zemun kej

by atrosanguinea The oldest Belgrade restaurant, built in 1823 as a property of Knez Miloš Obrenović, gifted to Naum Ičko, his commercial consul. It was constructed by the Greek builders in the Balkan style. As soon as 1826, on the ground floor of this building, Ećim-Toma Kostić, the son-in-law of Naum Ičko and a famous healer from the Second Serbian Insurrection (he cured Knez Miloš, too), opened a cafe called "Ećim-Tomina". Since 1878, when it was sold by the successors, it has changed its owners and names. First it was called "Kod pastira" (At Shepherd's) in 1878, then, in 1892 "Kod Saborne crkve" (At the Cathedral Church), but this was soon removed, because it neither complied with regulations on restaurants, nor did the Church authorities find it suitable. As a temporary solution, the owner has put up just a question mark, which has remained until today. Vuk Karadžić used to come to this restaurant in 1830-1831. In 1834 it had the first billiard table in Belgrade, and since the same year, i has been the first reading-room of "Srpske Novine" (Serbian Newspaper). Zemun by Jelena by Aurorae Balkan Express is a GREAT restaurant and café in Zemun, at Gardoš area. It is on a hill overlooking Danube, the view is MAGNIFICANT! There is an old tram wagon and an expansion in glass, in two levels. There is both indoor and outdoor option. The food is brilliant, there are various dishes and the prices are favourable! it's one of the best places in Belgrade in my opinion, and according to my taste, perhaps the best. PINK's enormous portions by Jelena by Aurorae PINK is a FABULOUS restaurant I recently discovered by chance! It's quite far from the center, but if you've got a car, it's just a step away. It has a very pleasant interior, nicely decorated, and lots of tables in different rooms (it's made inside the house). The terrace is very beautiful and behind is a garden with trees in bloom now that it's spring! THe music is fantastic and the staff is very kind, and let's not mention the prices! We paid a lunch for 6 people with starters, several drinks, soup, main course and dessert 50 US dollars ALL TOGETHER!!! FOR SIX PEOPLE!!! And the food was EXTRA good! And the portions for 3 (yes, not even for 2, but for 3! You get really HUGE plates!!) You can also have your food packed up and take home (there is no way you'd be finishing your portion!!!) They are way bigger than they seem on the photo! Besides Serbian dishes you can also have some Italian and international ones, like pizza, spaghetti, gulash, etc. But I strongly recommend local cuisine! Also, it gets very packed, it was FULL when we were there, it was necessary to wait up in a que for a place (that speaks enough how GOOD it is!!!)
I had stuffed vešalica (meat) "VUK" - it's rolled and inside there are prickles, ham, mushrooms and cheese (the one that stretches when it's melted :))) Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Solunskih boraca, ZarkovoDirections: Believe me, I wouldn't know how to get there again!!! :-))) Kidding! It's on the road to Obrenovac, after passing Cukaricka padina, find the street on the map and you will see PINK written on the huge green table!

Zemun by Jelena by Aurorae Šaran is the best and most famous fish restaurant in Zemun, and Belgrade as well. Also one of the very oldest. They serve mostly fresh water fish, but you can also find sea fish and other specialties. It's situated at the Danube river quay in Zemun, just below Gardoš. It's a must for all fish lovers! Mornar (sailor) is restaurant in the very center of Belgrade. The web page of the restaurant says: "This restaurant is famous for its good cooked meals, and generally for good cooking at really acceptable prices. Businessman gladly come here as well as singles and those who want to eat well and fast" – we consider that to be modesty. Another affirmative datum that can be found on the internet is that Mornar was declared as the restaurant with the best cuisine, several times. Mornar appears simple and plain – light blue walls, tables & chairs, blue & white table-covers. The only sound is rumour of chats, conversations, debates… Profile of those who use to have coffee, drink, a meal… in Mornar range from teenagers to deans of faculties, from art students (and other students) to businessmen, from love couples to poets, artists… Our tip may look like a commercial, but Mornar is one of a very few of our favourite restaurants in Belgrade, and certainly the one we drop in the most frequently. This restourant is in the forest Kosutnjak. Restourant is placed on the top of the hill and you can see big part of Belgrade and mountain Avala. Food is exelent. It is very quiet, you can sit and enjoy in birds singing. You will think that you are on some mountain, not in the city. That is my favorite place to drink coffe during hot summer days.
