It is a cafe-restaurant-bar-bookstore conveniently situated next to the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade - named after the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, i guess.
(Plato in Greek capital letters writes: ΠΛΑΤΩΝΑΣ)
Favorite Dish: I did not had any food there, but I had my morning coffee, before i started exploring the city every day and a cool afternoon beer to take off the heat and tiredness.
I enjoyed the cool shadow and relaxing seats at the courtyard.
It is a great spot in the centre for people-watching and familiarizing with the people and the city of Belgrade, or relax reading and planning what to do next in the city

The name translates to Two Deer. A really awful touist trap with a predatory staff intent on fleecing unwary visitors. CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY, AS SUCH THINGS AS COVER CHARGES AND UNORDERED ITEMS ARE CHARGED FOR. There are plenty of other choices in this area, so there is no reason to visit this mercenary and expensive disgrace to the city of Belgrade.
Favorite Dish: Very ordinary.

“Polet” (Take off, enthusiasm fig.)
From over a hundred fish restaurants in Belgrade “Polet” holds a place of high respect. It is situated in the centre of the city. Unlike other similar restaurants in the area with their top prices, favoring “so called” higher class clients, “Polet” does not use this method. On the contrary, prices in this restaurant are very appropriate and probably favorable to similar restaurants of this type and rank. The range of guests would surprise only the uninformed, from diplomats, sportsmen and women to young people and students who can not resist whitebait, tuna sandwiches, sea and freshwater fish, shellfish or crab. But what “Polet” is best known for is first class squid.
The quality of the food and service besides gracious praise from our guests, is confirmed by many certified awards. The management of the restaurant is particularly proud of the winning diploma and the title of champion in preparing thick fish soup.
The hall with about 200 (two hundred) places is ideal for organizing private or business events, celebrations, weddings. Whether you’re in the coffee bar, restaurant or beautiful garden, the feeling is unique. So, dear guests, if you really want to enjoy food and drink, feel like you are at home, do not miss out “Polet” restaurant.
Great pleasure that I am here, I am so glad I discovered Serbia, which I think is really magnificent. Thank you…
It is my special pleasure to introduce myself and to introduce “Polet” fish restaurant which I visit frequently. This is a restaurant with excellent sea specialties and food, and a very pleasant staff. I consider the atmosphere in the restaurant is outstanding. I wish to thank the boss (chef), manager Kovacevic and all the friends who made it possible to reach and maintain the level of long and positive tradition it know has. Thank you.
Favorite Dish: Everything is good...maybe sqid

I couldn't find the restaurant I was looking for in Skadarlija, so I wandered around looking for something I liked. I saw a picture of Two Deers, and immediately remembered a recommendation, on here or in my Lonely Planet guide book. Outside an English menu advertised a vegetarian menu, which impressed me enough to order it. The waiter, however, was completely baffled, and I had to show him what was advertised. After this it was served up with relish, and it was fantastic. Along with the Gypsy band playing, and the friendly locals, this was a great place to eat.
Open until 1am.
Favorite Dish: The food is very traditional. My starter was fantastic: a mix of four different Serbian cheeses, all with different flavours and textures, salty and tangy, dry and creamy, all perfectly set off against a slice of soft yellow corn bread.

One of my favourite is located in street; Nusiceva where you can relax while walking thru city center.
Don't miss to try Mocca cofee!
Favorite Dish: Mocca cofee, creamy with excellent taste. To eat? Italian Lasagne.

This restaurant with a very unusual name-?-is the oldest in Belgrade. It was built in 1823 and since then changed a lot of owners and names.
It had the 1st billiard table and reading-room in Belgrade.

OK, I will not say that I don’t like to go in McDonald’s but it is only when I am in hurry. I am fan of slow food and you have to try our local food when you are in Belgrade. There are is 9 McDonald’s in the city. The first one was opened in 24th Mrach 1988 at Slavija Square and it was the first one in former Yugoslavia. The most popular is the one at Terazije Square, just a cross of hotel "Moskva".
Take a look on next tip.
Favorite Dish: You know what you will get there.
"Big Mac" coasts 110 Dinars (68 YUD = 1 Euro)

Small Greek taverna in the heart of Belgrade is something new. Not brand new, but we were first time there today (2nd November 2003). It's really arranged like Greek tavernas. Choice of food and Greek wine Retsina is very good. I didn't take the wine 'cause I had to drive but I saw it in the bar.
Favorite Dish: The chicken is fantastic. Both of meal we took. Nina (my Nina, not Nina VT) took chicken with the lemon (Kotopoulo Lemon) and my choice was chicken (Kotopoulo) "souvlaki". And we shared Greek peasant (Agrotiki)salad. Before that, as the fun of the soups, I took tomato soup (Domatosoupa) with Greek cheese (as well the fun of the cheese) "feta".
And, it's not too expencive. See the bill ("Koka Kola" is Coca Cola, "Knjaz Milos" is our famous mineral water, "Neskafa" is Nescafe", "Espresso sa mlekom" is Esspresso with a milk and "Kuver" is a thing you get before a meal). It's 68 Yugoslav Dinar for 1 Euro.
Must try.

One of my favourite restaurants in Belgrade is boat club restaurant "Bahus". Its terrace is air-conditioned whole summer and heated all winter so, you can enjoy Danube River all the time.
It's opened from 10 AM to 01AM every day.
Favorite Dish: Food is really excellent and you can see their menu on their web site. I was there a hundred times and I can't set apart any dish. Sorry, I'm in love with that restaurant.
