The Serbs sell this kind of sweet pastries with jelles of different flavours inside.
I bought one in a shop. The shop attendant told me that one of the flavours they had was opium.
I do not know if it’s this one in the picture. I took a pic of the label to keep the difficult Slavic name.
I didn’t choose the opium one. I did not want to become a pastry-junky.

The Restaurant is family affair.
The owner learnt everything from his father and added few of his favorite ingridiances.
You can have 3 course meal for as little as 300 Serbian dinars.
Great place to be, and mix of people.
Neighborhood residents mixed with students and ordinary folks.
Also the restaurant & its owner have collected many awards for the food and its cooking.
They regulary take part in local and international cook offs.
Also the Owner & its father are the ones who "invented" KARAGJORDJEVA SHNICLA
(Black Geoge Shntzel) which funny enough become one of the favorite Serbian Dishes!
So If you are making your way to Micha's Home Cooking Restaurant, make sure you order one, as nobody makes it better than the person who invented it!
Favorite Dish: Dish of the day or Caragjordjeva Shicla, but you have great choice as everything is good.
Best bet is to go with .....everything!
Come back few times and try the extencive menu.
It is REALY home made!

This restaurant on Dragon Stefan, slightly out of the centre has huge portions!
Meatballs and salad x2 and a beer x 2 was 1,860 dinar (£18) and we were both fully stuffed.
The meatballs arent in fact meatballs but huge strips of meat!
But it tasted great

Now, I'm not sure the name is correct, hopefully it is. Maybe someone will recognise it from the location?
Noticed the small outside terrace as we walked past and just called in for a quick beer on our way out, read the menu and stayed for a meal.
Most of the local favourite (mine too) dishes to choose from and some good vegetarian food for Mrs B, breaded peppers extremely tasty!
Enjoyed our meal here, revisited the next night too and equally impressed.
Good food at a good price.

Address: Svetog Save?
Worth a mention for the location here, it's inside Kalemegdan fortress, has great views over the rivers and a lovely fountain to sit by on a warm afternoon.
Not a meal time when we visited but time for an interesting dark beer, and a"chill" for half an hour.
Enjoyed.

Mrs Bonio spotted this restaurant and I can usually be persuaded to have a Chinese.
City centre, close to Trg Republike, in a side street and plenty of comfortable outdoor seating on a warm evening.
Extensive menu to chose from, enough vegetarian options for Mrs B, unusually the prices are on a separate sheet at the back.
Both enjoyed a nicely cooked meal, friendly and fast service, a little more expensive than usual but given the location - not too bad.
Worth a visit.

Now that's the name on the receipt, it looks to me that maybe this is not the name of this restaurant though?
Firstly I'll describe it's location. It's just before the uphill entrance to the fortress, a little way over the road from Kneza Mihaila.
Anyway, there is plenty of outside seating on a warm day, inside looks pretty good too.
A favourite lunch hre for us, Shopska salad with a beer - both very good.
