St. Mark's Church at Tasmajdan Park was built in the 1931-1940 period at the place where the old church from 1835 used to be. It was designed in Serbian-Byzantine style. At the south part is a sarcophagus with the remains of Tzar Dusan, brought here from his endowment, the monastery of St. Michael the Archangel near Prizren, Kosovo and Metohia. On the north side is the white marble crypt containing the remains of Patriarch German (Djoric).

NIKOLA PASIC
(Zajecar, 1845 - Belgrade, 1926) politician and statesman
Nikola Pasic was the greatest Serbian statesman in last century. Maybe, ever. He was born in Zajecar in 1845. He was the president of National Radical Party and Prime minister. On 25th July 1914, Pasic told the Austro-Hungarian government that he was unable to hand over these three men, as it "would be a violation of Serbia's Constitution and criminal in law". Three days later Austro-Hungarian declared war on Serbia. Nikola Pasic died in 1926.
His monument is in the center of the square named with his name.

The The Royal Palace of the Obrenovic dynasty. It was built between 1882 and 1884, in the style of academism of the XIX century. The Palace was damaged twice: during World War I and during the bombing of Belgrade, on April 6, 1941. After World War I the Palace was repaired, while the first important restoration was done around 1930. The repair and re-arrangement of the Old Palace after World War II lasted until 1947. During that period, the architecture of the building was significantly changed. The two domes facing the garden were removed, while the facade facing the present Bulevar kralja Aleksandra was completely changed. Since that time, the building housed the Presidium of the National Assembly, then the Federal Government, and, since 1961, the City Assembly of Belgrade.
This is also a place where we welcome our champions in many sports.

This is Federal parliament building. The construction of the parliament building started in 1906 and last for almost 30 yrs. King Petar I Karadjordjevic laid foundation stone. During World War I, main architect Jovan Ilkic died in the concentration camp and the plans have been lost. His son has made the new plans. It was designed in the manner of academic traditionalism, with rich interior (architectural and artistic) decoration, made by, at that time, most famous artists and craftsmen. In 1939, a monumental sculptural group made by the sculptor Toma Rosandic was placed in front of the main entrance. It was named "Igrali se konji vrani" (Black horses are playing).

Ok we are going back to city center and on our right side we comes to a green oasis – Tashmajdan. At this place under Turkish rule used to be a large stone-pit. That is how this park has got his name Tashmajdan (in Turkish: tash - stone, majdan - pit). Rest here and then visits Church of Saint Marko. It was built between 1931 and 1940, on the location of an older church from 1835. Architecturally this church resembles the Gracanica Monastery in Kosovo. In the southern part of the inner temple sanctuary lies the sarcophagus with the remains of the Serbian emperor Dusan, and in crypt are remains of King Aleksandar and his wife Queen Draga Obrenovic. The church also preserves one the richest collections 18th and 19th century of Serbian icons.

Ok you have finish with science and it's time to meet longest Belgrade Street - ex Bulevar Revolucije now Bulevar of King Alexandar or shorter just Bulevar. It starts just at Main post office and it’s long about 12 km (maybe few km more). Lot’s of interesting buildings can be seen here. We will start our tour here – this is a monument to linguist, ethnographer, historian, and reformer of the Serbian language – Vuk Karadzic. Thanks to Vuk, Serbian national poetry and songs became known and admired throughout Europe. Goethe especially liked them.
