If you go around by car, I must tell you that the car will not be a clever option, traffic is chaotic and parking almost impossible. In the center you can live your car in the parking only for one or two hours. Alway go on parking places. (The majority of Belgrade streets is payed parking) And if you find a place where it is not allowed to park, police will surely give your car a wheel clamp. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Beograd lies at the crossing of the European main corridors E-70 and E-75. Foreign drivers in Yugoslavia need an international driving license, an automobile registration card and an insurance policy. For passenger vehicles no customs declaration needs to be filled out. INSURANCE Insurance policies from countries that have signed the "Vehicle Insurance Convention" are fully valid, and citizens of other countries must purchase an insurance policy when entering Yugoslavia. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS In case of a traffic accident the Traffic Police (Saobraćajna policija) should be summoned using the Phone: 92. The police officers shall write an accident report. For vehicles with foreign license plates a certificate on damages should be requested. It is to be shown at the border crossing when leaving Yugoslavia. Road Assistance Service (Služba "Pomoć-informacije") - Phone: 987, of the Yugoslav Automobile Association (Auto-moto savez Jugoslavije - AMSJ) is available for all tourist assistance and towing/transport of damaged vehicles. In case that the owner is permanently abandoning a vehicle with foreign license plates, this should be reported to the customs authorities or to the local AMSJ unit that will carry out the necessary procedure. In both cases, it is imperative to secure a certificate on having handed over the vehicle, to simplify formalities in the country where the vehicle was originally registered. If a foreign tourist enters Yugoslavia driving a vehicle with damaged bodywork, he must contact the authorities at the border crossing to have the damage evaluated and to receive a certificate about it. ROAD TOLL For passenger vehicles with foreign license plates the following toll rates are applicable on roads through Serbia: Subotica - Novi Sad: 5 EUR Novi Sad - Belgrade: 5 EUR Šid - Belgrade: 6 EUR Belgrade - Niš: 13 EUR Niš - Pečenjevce: 3 EUR Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Driving thru Serbia can be fun as much as it can be irritating because of occasionally bad roads and rude drivers. But, before hitting the road, you have to know this important rule that nobody will remember to highlight because it is so common here: while driving on the 3 lane road note that you always have to keep to your right, because in Serbia middle lane is for faster cars passing by the slower ones IN BOTH DIRECTIONS! So, keep to your right and use the middle lane only for passing by the slow cars in front of you... Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
