The monastery lies 16km west of the town, along a wild and lonely road that penetrates deep into the Raska heartland.
Founded in the middle of 13th century by King Uros I, the monastery is one of the finest examples of the Raska School. Was completely abandoned in the end of 17th century, but so many frescos survived.
Church of St.Peter (Petrova)
Lies 4km north of the town center, at the base of a grassy hill. Approaching by a walk you will notice that this part of Novi Pazar is still predominantly Serbian Orthodox.
Is the oldest church in the country, dating from 8-9th century. Circular plan with central cupola. Constructed in early Byzantine tradition. The inside is dark, with a single circular nave surrounded by some serbian princes tombs.
strancima koji dodju u novi...
strancima koji dodju u novi pazar, nedostaje im puno toga.
npr. mogucnost upotrebe bankomata, upotrbe njihovih kreditnih kartica i sl.
a razlog je jednostavan, opstina nista ne preduzima u vezi tih stvari!
The Sopoćani monastery, the foundation of St. King Uroš I, was built in the second half of the 13th century. It is World Heritage Site, added in 1979 with Stari Ras. The church was dedicated to the Holy Trinity and completed around 1265, with interior decorated shortly after completion. The frescoes are considered one of the best of the time. The church was deserted for over 200 years after Turks burned it in 17th Century. The fact that the frescoes are almost intact is considered a miracle.
