The Rugova Valley is a highlight in Kosovo. Located immediately outside of Peja, the Rugova Valley is great to drive through year around. Be amazed by the beautiful atmosphere, enjoy a lunch at one of the many restaurants in the valley, take a hike, or drive to Boge and do some skiing! A must-see in Kosovo!
This restaurant is on the road through the Rugova Gorge. It has an extensive menu and we sampled many of the entrees along with a very good Greek salad to start. A friend had the trout which came from their trout farm and said it was very good. I had a chicken dish and a yogurt/cucumber starter along with some great bread. It is worth a stop if you're visiting the Rugova.
Favorite Dish: It was all good. We ate family style and everything I tried was good.
*Guri i Zi is not in Peja (Pec), it is located on the way to Gjakova somewhat close to Peja*
Guri i Zi is a great place to stop and have some fresh fish dishes. While they also serve traditional Albanian meat dishes, Guri i Zi is best know for the fish that they catch from the White Drin River, right in their backyard! With fabulous outdoor seating that overlooks the river and friendly service, this restaurant is a great place to stop for a bite to eat if you are on your way to Gjakova or Mirusha Waterfalls!
Favorite Dish: Though the fresh water fish dishes are excellent, I also particularly enjoyed the beaf steak with mushroom sauce.
Peja has a surprisingly decent nightlife on Friday and Saturday nights, with a pleasant pedestrian walking street which immediately intersects with the city center (near Hotel Royal). Along the street, which is extremely popular with the 20-something crowd in the evenings, there are a number of nice little bars, cafes, and restaurants - easily enough to accomodate an entire evening "out on the town."
