In village called Bezdan, 20 km northern form Sombor is factory that produces unique table cloths, napkins and bed clothes from damaskt. It was opened in 1852.
Entrance is free – with obligation to call in advance. There is possibility to buy by factory prices.
25 km northern from Sombor (towards Hungarian border), in village called Kolut is situated private ZOO, with more then 100 different species, with 20 really rare ones (that is thay can’t be seen in other Zoos in Serbia).
At about 20 km away from Sombor is regional park “Gornje Podunavlje” – area of extreme importance because of it’s unique natural values and living world. It was established in 1982 at the area of 9996 ha which is next to the left bank of river Danube
-it is one of the last big oases of swampy wood complexes (and in whole area there are different ecosystems: watery, pondish, swampy, forest,…).
Considering trees the most representative are: white willow, black poplar, white poplar, English oak….As for animals there are about 50 mammal species (and on the top stands a deer), 230 different species of birds (Whitetail eagle, Black stork, Big cormorant, wild ducks, geese), 50 freshwater species (carp, catfish, pike, pike – perch,…)
Bird watching and safari can be arranged from 15th May to 15th August, and the rest of the period is hunting season and visits are mostly not allowed.
Enjoy wonderful landscape near the Danube in and around Apatin, a small town 20 minutes away from Sombor.
