Yugo is being produced (mostly) in beautiful city of Kragujevac.

    %L[http://www.zastava-automobili.co.yu/
] Crvena Zastava (Red Flag) factory was “partially” destroyed in 1999 during NATO war against Serbia & Montenegro , but somehow was able to continue to make cars.
The production is not really doing great, but many people in Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, FRY Macedonia etc. are still buying Yugo.

Yugo, the 8th and 9th World’s Wonder is being produced in Serbia!
Many people say that Yugo is the worst Automobile ever made in the world, but they don’t know sh.t.
Those are the people that have no sense for adventure, that love to “accept the miniscule glimpse of what they see and selectively choose to define their lives by” (as a good friend of mine once said).
And I have only one thing to say to those people: Get a Life!!!

Yugo kept the Serbian people alive during the worst days (or maybe years or decades actually) of our history.
There is no road that Yugo can’t take!
Where tractors failed and cows and bulls got stuck in the mud Yugo went through!
    ;o))))))
Not only it is cheep, but it is that cheep that you don’t need a security alarm for it.
And it’s ideal for bumpy roads Serbia took throughout the past 20 years.
    So, learn to respect Yugo.

If not just visit some of these sites that are dedicated to Yugo.
And at least you’ll have a laugh. ;o)

Taken from an article from Montenegro journal “Vijesti”

“…Gentlemen from Forbs, would people that have been driving the best cars all their lives be able to start decomposed Yugo with 2 electrical wires and take the whole family on a skiing trip? And all of that with tires so bald, maybe even balder than many of those richest people of the world that read your magazine. Here in Serbia we drive much worse cars that you can even imagine, but when you live here and the situation is like it is, you have to move around with anything you find.”

Lesak-Rudnica train exchange on Kosovo adm. border

    Blue ZS railbus arrived in
    Kosovo
    by GyuriFT, 2 more photos
Finally we got the first photo shots of Lesak exchange point and the formalities. Lesak is on the "Albanian" side of the administrative border with Kosovo. The entire procedure is very simple. The only documents being checked (Aug 17. 2007) were the train tickets. Due the disputed nature of the border it is PROBABLY not much different now either. The control in the train seem to be much more easy-going (no control, some policemen present but not active) than on bus.

    The pictures:

    1) Blue ZS railbus arrived in Kosovo from Kraljevo, the red-nose NOHAB Diesel-Engine with train to Kosovo Polje (close to Pristina) is next to it. Passengers change the trains without formalities.

    2) Kosovar (Albanian? Serb? not sure) official gives free signal by hand (this is still very popular way to signal in most of Europe)

    3) The station of Lesak, from distance. Note the old "Kennedy" 661 series diesel of Serbian Rail now re-painted in new Kosovo paint scheme with a freight from north to Kosovo

WARNING: I uploaded these pictures from http://www.drehscheibe-online.de/, the author is Martin Heier, not me.
I took the freedom to publish these here because such pictures are still scarce.

IMPORTANT: Who can read German please read the last comment from European railway enthusiast "Jesuskind" about travel to Serbia and via Lesak: "Also keine Panik auf der Titanic" = "No Titanic-panic" and "eben Menschenansammlungen meiden" = "stay away from large crowds". Enough said, this warning is valid everywhere worldwide. It was interesting to read, people can actually get away with the known "Serbian passport stamp" problem because of some obscurities - don't count on it tough. ;)

Maybe will challenge my luck and take a stroll this Summer...

Airports: Belgrade Airport in Belgrade ,
Podgorica Airport and Tivat Airport (Montenegro).
Rail way stations almost everywhere, but I wouldn’t recommend that LOL, except if you are using international train .

Ports and Harbors: Bar, Kotor, Zelenika (Adriatic sea), Belgrade, Novi Sad , Pancevo ( Danube)

So the best way to come here is by plane to Belgrade , the airport bus will take you close to Belgrade Bus station and Rail way station ,and than take bus or train (if you have to ) to go where ever you want in Serbia.
If you are going to Montenegro you should consider flight to Airports in Montenegro.

Earlier at the border either a vaucher or an invitation had to be presented. Otherwise the Russian traveler had to have a visa in the passport. For Russians, the Serbian visa was one of the easiest and cheapest (
