Church is the oldest buildig in the town(1834).
At the time I visited it , the local wedding took place. It realy was very interesting to watch. I had to wait till it was finished as I wanted to light up the candels for the people I care about.
Unfortunately I didn’t find in which year this beautiful building is build. It’s belonged to Captain Jovan Belimarkovic famous person in history. Today here is city museum with rich collection of things from Spa past and history and art gallery.
Vrnjacka Banja has a lasting tradition in medical treatment. It is exactly on this spot of hot mineral spring of Vrnjci that the Romans had built their center for medical treatment and rehabilitation AQUAE ORCINAE in the period between II and IV centuries. It is evident from archeological finds in the central part of the Roman Spa, namely the swimming pool, the Roman spring of mineral water (Fons Romanus) and a host of coins thrown in the spring as an expression of cult beliefs. Legionaries of Flavian's V Legion and Claudiaris VII Legion used to come to this spot to get treatment and to recover, as well as Romanies native tribes of aristocracy.
Church of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God is built in 1834. by the time of reign of Prince Milos Obrenovic. It’s dedicated to a birth of Holy Mother of God – Mala Gospojina. Church holiday is August 28. You can see beautiful mosaic above church doors. Iconostasis is gift from rich man from Belgrade Jovan Kulundzic. On the south side of church you can see board with the names of warriors from Vrnjacka banja who died during the Wars betveen 1912 and 1918. Church was renovated two times: in 1936 and in 1973.
The parks of Vrnjacka Banja have an important part in a development of this spa as a tourist resort. Except a comfortable accommodation and a good medical treatment, it is very importmant to provide a rest for each guest in a quiet and natural environment with good climate conditions. The parks and other green surfaces are those places. Mineral springs are surrounded by them, giving visitors a possibility to go for long or shot walks. According to the 1986 survey, whose aim was to define problems and priorities of development of Vrnjacka Banja, it was clear that parks and greenery, then woods and nature, itself, were highly classified. The main reasons for people to come in Banja are parks, greenery, mineral springs, nature, peace and quiet, air and climate.
The parks of Vrnjacka Banja present a significant example of garden art in Serbia with its composition, various species, some specimens of old and capital dendroflora.
I like the arhitecture in this town, from the end og 19th and begining of 20th century. The library building is something ! You can also get some books to read while being in the town for the simbolic fee ( 30 cents).
Every year in July there is a carnival here in Vrnjacka banja.
Carnival lasts for 7 days.
Follow the link below to see the photos of the carnival in 2006.
