That ocre building on the photo is National theatre "Tosa Jovanovic". First theatre group in Zrenjanin was German one from 1746 but real theatre life started in 1787. The theatre life gets a full swing in 1839. when the city grains warehouse was turned into a permanent theatre hall. That grains warehouse was build of the bricks that derives from Zrenjanins mediaeval fortress so, an army fortress become fortress of culture. According to the tradition, the theatre was founded out of a great love of a wealthy citizen towards a Budapest lady actress. In order to bring her closer to himself and to the town, he built a cultural building of the top value, which remained as a memory to a love amorous passion. The baroque building has the interior of exquisite beauty, acoustics and functionality, and in its basis it is of the chamber type. It can receive around 350 spectaculars. In this building is also Modern gallery. There is only a small exibition hall but that institution has one of the greatest (after Belgrade) collection of modern Yugoslav and Serbian art.
Another building on the photo is National Museum. Foundation of the District Museum in Veliki Beckerek was approved in 1906. by the Municipal Board of Torontal district. It changed its location on several occasions and in 1966. it moved to the building of the previous Financial Palace, raised on the trg Slobode in 1894. This building, raised after the plans of the Budapest Architect Istvan Kis, represents a monumental building of harmonious proportions. It is decorated with free sculptures – figures representing The Industry, The Agriculture, The Science and The Art. Musum collection contains of different departments: prehistory, middle ages, old furniture, some paintings(mostly 18. and 19. century and new ones as well), etnografical, nature and 20. century wars period. Well... this is one of the most important buildings in whole town and maybe in whole region.... school of medicine!!! I bet this will become very visited museum one day because I attend that school and spent 4 whole years there (but the weekends, summer and winter holidays).
Beside that building has his own charm and history. It was build up in 1876 or 78 as a school for young ladies under Catholic order of "Notre Dame". Today left wing belong to an primary school, right wing of building is school of medicine and central part with chapel is property of Catholic church. Once a resting place for the City Hall clerks, the city Park or the City Garden is today a representative green oasis in the downtown area. The Garden was being formed after the side wing of the district office building was additionally built. This is how the interior of this building was isolated and protected. Take a look at this monument to Kralj Petar I (King Petar I). It was placed here in 1926 and was moved in 1941 only to be put here again a few years ago.

Gradska kuca (Town Hall) is 1 of Zrenjanin most photographed buildings.
It was built in 1820, following the plans by Josip Fisher, and reconstructed in 1887 according to the designs of Djula Parota and Lehner Ede.

Rimokatolicka katedrala (The Roman Catholic Cathedral) was built between 1864 and 1868 on the place of the previous Catholic Cathedral. It was designed by Stevan Djordjevic and the interior was made by Jozef Gojgner, according to the Bible motifs.
