Once, here was the seat of Earls Lazar. Lazar Lukac, originally Armenian, bought huge parcels of the land from Austrian royal family.
The palace was built in English style and it was the center of social and cultural life, sometimes ahead of Zrenjanin.

From 1716 to 1879 the name of the street was Great Bridge Street; from 1879 to 1919 - Hunydy’s Street; from 1919 to 1941 – King Aleksandar I Street; from 1941 to 1944 – Herman Gering’s Street; and from 1992 it is King Aleksandar I Street again. Leave a Comment
