Bran Things to Do

  • See traditional Romanian peasant homes...

On January 26 2009 it was revealed that the von Habsburg family (who originally wanted to sell the Bran Castle in 2007) had decided not to sell the castle, but instead turn it into a museum dedicated to the legend and history of Dracula. However, while Vlad Tepes ("Dracula") did not actually live in the Bran Castle, it is believed he spent two days...

  • See why Bran Castle is NOT Dracula's...

Bran castle has always been marketed as "Dracula's Castle" (it is one among several locations linked to the Dracula legend, including Poienari Castle and Hunyad Castle), but there is no evidence that Dracula "author" Stoker knew anything about this castle. And it was never the home of Vlad Þepeº, ruler of Wallachia who was said to have inspired the...

  • The entrance

This is what you see when you climb up to the castle plateau. Bran is extremely beautiful in early morning, and no tourists inside. We had that luck. And our share of spooky feelings!!!This is where everything begins!

  • When you're approaching...

This is the entrance to the castle. There are lots of stairs to climb before you enter, and the main gate is a bit "hidden", you can't see it clearly when you're aproaching the castle!Just clamb the stairs, take a deep breath, and... may heavens help you!!!

  • The overall serenity

Imagine how beautiful Bran is at dusk. With the setting sun, and discrete lights, it gives the picture of serenity that it is hard to imagine it as a bloodthirsty spooky place!

  • More inside...

There are many terraces and balconies at Bran, the castle is full of strange pathways, and from many places you can bump to the same place...My smile actually tries to camufly the fear, see how fake it is! :) And the dawn at Bran, looking from the balcony to the golden hills around, seems so blissful...

Bran Shopping

  • t-shirts, blouses, dolls

There are many souvenir stores outside the Bran Castle. My tip is ask your Romanian friend to bargain for you. If you don't have a local companion, then, bargain (not half the price though). T-shirts are common gifts. If you have more money for souvenirs, buy your loved ones, handmade blouses, preferably made of special material (not cotton - it...

  • Truffles!

The shop sells all sorts of souvenirs. What makes it so special? Well, the tourists are regarded as guests in such a way that there are no Security Guards inside the shop, no surveillance camera, no suspicious eyes staring at you. They know that visitors pay the stuffs they choose. Or else...Dracula will haunt them. Postcards, key holders,...

I was heard a lot of castle Bran because about this castle be a very famous legend. But, when I went there I was desappointed. Inside Bran you may see some old furnitures. You can not see something which is legend conjure up and you can not hear or read legend.
This castle site near very beautiful city Brasov. So, if you have a choice stay in Brasov and miss to visit this castle.

Luggage and bags: A stick, holy water, cross, garlic... these are the essentials, DO NOT go there without this!

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Something to keep your neck safe!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Unfortunately, nothoing works against vampires, once they bite you, so no medications are necessary. You have to take the PRECAUTIONS!

Photo Equipment: If you have a camera, you can take a photo of your friend being eaten by a vampire (now they modernized, they evoluted from only blood sucking to canibalsim. Or is it the economy crisis that makes them use every thing, and not throw away the body once the blood is sucked out?!)

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: You gotta be kidding!
But if you do thi, do it only during the daylight and sunshine!

    Miscellaneous: GOOD LUCK!!!

Favorite thing: The first thing you should know about Transylvania is that there are vampires lurking, so beware! They might be in disguise, or openly declaring themselves.
My tIps here are dedicated to this topic.

Fondest memory: Being bitten by the vampire.
