Not spent all your time in...

by chace411

Not spent all your time in Bucharest. There are three attractions on the outside of the city that should not be missed. These places give you a better feeling of the older romania. They are: Caldarusani monestary, Cernica monestary, and Mogosoaia. I highly advise negotiating with a taxi driver...buses to these areas pass 2-3 times a day. Very unreliable means of transportation unless you don't mind not making it back to your hotel. This picture is of the Caldarusani monestary.

when u are making this amasing trip inside of u, you absolutely must realise that happiness is a inner capacity of your soul, wich should not be related with any exterior subjects or objects. otherwise u are the slave of the source of your happiness and everything that exist in the physic world is relative and ephemer.....and remember that everyday is a trip into unkown...and that this life it is a divine game with some well defined rulles that u only have to dyscover them and after this, u are the master of your destiny...and yes, you absolutely, definetley, must LOVE with all your being, to breath love by everycellule of your body: because every single day that u don't feel love...it's a lost day! my best memory about my trip inside of me....was that i have a soul...and it's nurriture is love and the communion with univers! by looking for a mate, a partener in this life, we actually...

when u start this amasing trip inside of u, u absolutely must open you heart and have the courrage to look inside, to talk with your inner self, to dyscover u, as a divine child that u are! your life it is a gift! if u want to make your life completely happy must dissapear fom u restlessness, anger, egoism, jealousey, souffrence, unhappiness, ignorance, because all these will put u in resonance with corespondent energetic moods from univers wich will allways support these painfull moods...generaly, u, autohomate, confront yourself with moods more or less intensive of unhappiness, in the moment when the persons or situations from your life DON'T CONCORD AT ALL WITH YOUR ANTICIPATIVE EXPECTATIONS....u must become aweare that YOUR EXPECTANCE are, often, the source of your unhappiness. your unfullfilled desires makes u most often to souffer - not the world, not people around u, but RIGHT...

by tiganeasca

...get to Maramures. This part of the country is located In the northwest, near the borders with Hungary and Ukraine. Start in Sighet (formally known as Sighetu Marmatiei, a city that has little going for it except that it is well-located) and follow the road down the Izei valley. Time has slowed here: you might think you were back one hundred years ago. Homes are made of logs as are many everyday implements. Farming is a common way of making a living. If you have even the slightest interest in architecture, the wooden churches in this region are beyond the power of words. (This picture is of the old church in Poienile Izei, itself a remote town) Small and stunning. These churches ooze faith and God, even if you are an agnostic. See this area now before it disappears forever under a tide of Western capitalism.

You MUST meet the Romanian people

by tiganeasca

...meet the people and get out into the country. Bucharest is no more typical of Romania (wonderful though it may be) than Washington is of the United States or London is of England. Learn some Romanian history and you will better appreciate the different cultures you will encounter and understand why you may hear German spoken in Transylvania or French in many places. Romania has a large Hungarian minority as well as the largest Roma (gypsy) population in all of Europe. For most Americans (in fact, for most Westerners), the Eastern Orthodox church is an unknown entity: visiting the churches is fascinating, not only for the beauty of the churches themselves (which vary quite a bit throughout the country), but for the Eastern rite and the people. Romania also had the third largest Jewish population in Eastern Europe before World War Two--remnants are everywhere. It is impossible to visit...

My fondest memory of Romania would be my encounter with Ioan (John). When the bank machines would not accept my bank card and the banks and change cambrios would not change traveller's checks, I was left stranded in Brasov, during the start of the weekend, with no money. Ioan lent me approximately 1/3 of his monthly paycheck so I could survive. I promptly paid him back on Monday, but will be forever indebted to him for his generosity and kindness. The pic beside is of me and Ioan.

by bluecat

See the Romanian sea-side, the mountains and the old cities of Transylvania. Each and every part of Romania is unique and has it's own characteristics that you cannot find in another parts. So in Maramures you can find people still living in a very traditionalistic way in the countryside, as if time stoped or ... better, as if there is no time! In Moldavia you musn't miss the monasteries mostly built in the Middle Ages. In Transylvania and Banat you can trace signs of the old Austro-Hungarian empire, a mixture of cultures and nations. In Valachia the signs of all rulers of this province are a delight for travelers. And here comes Dobrogea with the beautiful sea-side.But there is much more to see in Romania. And there is a really vivid cultural life to feel ... the insight to modernity. People, history, culture! There is only one place in my heart and it's named Romania.

We stopped by the roadside for a bio-break, a farmer and his family were working in their field, upon seeing us, started singing American songs. After they finished their field work, they started to move towards our bus. Unfortunately we were trying to take off before this herd of cattle passed us. The farmer and his family rode their wagon along side us and waved as we left. They sure were very friendly and I wished we had stopped and talked to them.Click on the picture to see the animated GIF.

1. First of all, you MUST get out of Bucharest! Take a look around first, then see the true beauty of Romania by leaving the capital city. 2. Sinia: You must visit Sinia in the Carpathian Mountains. Ride the cable car. Get a great view. Go to Peles Castle. Walk the Castle grounds. Tour the castle and Pelisor residence. 3. See my comments on Sighisoara below. While staying with a family in Timisoara, I was served the best food! I've been many places and let me tell you, this was GOOD food. I think we were offered about 14 courses!
