The citadel of Aiud

by Mique

The citadel of Aiud is very small and very very old. It is about half an hour from alba Iulia and is easy to get to by train or bus. It consists of a strong wall with several towers and inside the old church. citadels here were mainly used to defend churches and populations when under attack. The church was not open teh day i was there unfortunately.

The red rock of Sebes

by Mique

It wasn't a nice sunny dau as i had hoped so the effect was a lot less striking but still to see the rock displayed like an open wound. Pink, reddish and raw. It would have been quite a sight had the sun been shining. Not the easiest place to find. i had forgotten the name in romanian and couldn't find it. finally paid a cabby to drive me up there. Good thing to becasue it was already getting late (5-ish in late october) and it is around 4 kilometers from Sebes itself. it wouldn't have been nice walking back towards the city. That is if i had found it to begin with
