Easy to find at the backside of McDonlads in the area of the football stadium. Great food (national style and more) and a nice place to relax with friends.
Favorite Dish: That would be the tochitura (the national dish based on corn meal and meat) which comes in several flavors (try tochitura haiducheasca ;). But their menu includes a variety of other excellent meals too.

if you go by train departing from Bucharest, take the intercity, instead of the rapi accelerat.
The intercity has good comfort and takes you to bacau, in a timeley manner
Any other trains provide less comfort, but its an experience on its own. Travelling in a somewhat old train at night with some haze, with the mechanical sounds was indeed a little bit creepy, but at least unique.
As for the cabs in bacau, well my experience is that they are cheap, and the drivers are helpful. a good way to get around in bacau.

Most taxi drivers dont speak or very little Englisch, so knowing your destination is a good thing. You can always write it down and show it to them. As a noticed there carefully drivers, dont expect the safetybelt to be working!

The worst way to get there is travelling to Bucharest and then take a train to Bacau, which stops a couple of times, and then begins an almost ENDLESS travel through Romania! Takes about 3 hours to get there. I would recommend a 1 st class ticket which will cost 582.000 lei. I didnt check out the 2nd class, but it must be worse!!
Bacau trainstation can be creepy at night, although nothing much happens there. taxicabs are waiting in front of the hall.
The BEST way to get there is flying with CARPATAIR. You should get to Timisoara, and buy a ticket to bacau. Staff at the airport is very helpfull, and it's only 10 m inutes to the centre!

I think every country have their own problem and i didnt try to highlight something bad to this country and its not my intention but careful with beggar girl inside train because her action quite suprise.
Of course like other country there is someone to take opportunity at train station if you not be careful..eg..illegal aproach from driver and my experience the woman at counter didnt give my change after buy train ticket so i wait a while and after that she realise MAYBE she forgot i assume...

Always make sure the taxidriver has put his meter on!
Sometimes it says PRIVAT, which means he's is earning extra money by driving you with the compagny's car but keep the money for himself. It's a good way to get rid off your lei's, if you arent planning to buy something else anymore.
Otherwise always make sure he puts it on! I noticed it because when i drove to the airport the 1 st driver charged me 58.000 , while the next one asked 150.000 (!!!!!!)
Unique Suggestions: Dont give him what he is asking, i gave him 80.000 lei and told him to,...@#@#@#@%@%$@#@** (....well, you can imagine, right?)
Fun Alternatives: Just like i said, make sure the meter is ALWAYS on!
