These are not decorative or ceremonial, or to keep you from going off the road at night. They are painted with an insect-discouraging chemical that happens to be white. As the urban Romanian workers are less likely to know this, they sometimes spray concrete poles as well.

Helpfulness
In Bihor County (don't know if this is general for Romania) everybody marries on saturday. I was very suprised that one only married on a saturday. They were as suprised that in the Netherlands you can marry on any day you want (except sunday i think)..
Here in Cetariu the people were preparing the town hall and the dinner on friday so on saturday everything would be ready..
Seeing all that meat displayed just like that i made sure i was in no way being invited to share some of the festivities..

Helpfulness
One of the things i liked very much was Babgulyas. This one tasted extra good sicne it was home cooked and my friend had to put in the work of collecting the beans.. ;-)
Romanian people are very friendly and we were invited everywhere.... and stuffed with food and drink..
Another great dish is Sarmale (stuffed cabbage leaves).

In the cities, boys play schoolyard futbol on pavement. There are even intercity tournaments.
Not many slide tackles.
