Before going out in the evening we examened many places from Brasov guide and when were done with the dinner we walked along a big part of them but all they were empty or boring ( It was Sunday btw). What we notices first was bar Jamaica (definitely will go there next time) but we decided to reach the end of the street. And there, at the north side of Republicii street we found Times. There was a live band playing classical and moders rock and dance music. People were dancing and smiling. It was a great party!

Kasho: "We Provide Butterflies"

Kasho's link on Google says, "We provide butterflies". If "butterflies" is Romanian for "a crazy Europop discotheque experience" then I'd have to agree. My night at Kasho was an absolute blast! I arrived completed hammered, having wasted the afternoon watching Europop on KissTV while drinking an entire bottle of wine (mixed with sparkling fruit juice, of course) then gone on an impromptu bar crawl with four guys from New Zealand, THEN gone bear-watching (okay, and maybe having a drink or two WHILE bear-watching). We were promptly turned away as one guy was wearing a sleeveless shirt, but fifteen minutes later we were back and dressed to impress! Twenty lei got us in the door... upon which we immediately entered some kind of kitsch Europop fantasyland that was all mirrors, flashing lights and songs that weren't even in the running for Eurovision 2010. In other words, my Dream Club. Drinks ran about twenty lei at the bar, and to have a table you'd need to reserve in advance. As with many places there were lots of snobby girls, though (no surprise) lots of the men were very friendly and interested in talking to foreign girls! With a capacity of 1,500 people, however, I'm sure you'll be able to meet at least a handful of friendly locals of both genders! We partied until 5:00 in the morning before stumbling out to a taxi and heading back to the hostel.

Dress Code: Look good. Guys, err on the side of overdressed. Girls, err on the side of slutty.

Opera Brasov: Opera

Opera Brasov

Unfortunately Opera Brasov was sold out when I was there, so the nearest I got to an actual performance was hearing the singers rehearse. The company's repertoire includes all of the standard popular operas, such as 'Marriage of Figaro', 'The Barber of Seville', 'La Traviata', 'Rigoletto', 'La Boheme', 'Tosca' and 'Carmen'.

Tickets are reasonably priced at 10 to 15 lei. The opera house is quite a distance from the city centre, but there is a ticket office just off Piata Sfatalui, opposite the Black Church. Details below:

La Agenţia Operei, Str. George Bariţu nr.20
Tuesday – Friday 11.00 – 18.00
Saturday 11.00 – 14.00

The Auld Scots Pub: Fake Authentic scottish
mykitten profile photo
mykitten 38 reviews

This "traditional" Scottish pub looks the part on first looking in. Comfy chairs, covered in football shirts - hmm isnt like the traditional pubs I last went into!

Large selection of whiskies as well as beers - only one scottish beer on sale - tsk tsk!

Not a bad menu although suffers from not being anything like what you expect - hamburger obviously made with pork mince, chicken pie with a poor excuse for puff pasty.

Nothing like a scottish pub, but its ok.

Open 11am - 3am

Deane's Irish Pub and Grill is a great location to enjoy a lovely time in Brasov's busy city centre.

It is set on two levels with a large bar and restaurant area downstairs and two pub style rooms on the ground floor.

An outdoor terrace is available on the pedestrianised Republicii Street.

The interior is held in a typical Irish Pub wooden style. Several Irish, international and local beers are on tap or available in bottles. The large menu offers all sorts of international and Irish dishes, including breakfast.

I had a few pints of Guinness while my friend was really pleased about her Pizza Hawaii. The pizza was only 11,50 RON (3,50 Euro) while a Guinness set me back 10 RON (3,30 Euro, 2007). Service was very friendly and helpful.

Pub for Sale: Drink beer and eat peanuts
midnight_mike profile photo

4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

midnight_mike 299 reviews

Pub for Sale is a good place to have a drink with friends. It is definitely not a pretentious place. No one is there to be seen.

The bar is lit by candle light, with peanuts at every table. As you walk, you can hear the crunch of peanut shells beneath your feet. Most of the patrons are locals between 18 and 30 years old.

Disco No Problem: Party with the locals!
midnight_mike profile photo

4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

midnight_mike 299 reviews

If you want to mingle with Romanians, head over to Disco No Problem. This discoteque is virtually tourist free. Some nights (Fridays, Saturdays) there is a small cover and drinks are not too overpriced. They play dance and pop music from Romania, Western Europe, the United States and Latin America. The neighborhood is not dangerous, but there have been some incidents reported there. As long as you hop in one of the many taxis waiting outside the club, you will have "no problem" getting back to your hotel safely.

Gaijin Bar: Sublime ambiance!!!
Chrystalain profile photo

Chrystalain 133 reviews

This resto-bar serves good Thai food and was the first to offer chill out ambiance in Brasov. During the week, the music is smooth, but groovy. On Friday and Saturday nights, though, it changes for a more appropriate beat and everybody dances on tables... if they wish too.

Dress Code: As you wish... as long as it's clean!

FESTIVAL 39: The friendliest bar in town!!!
Chrystalain profile photo

Chrystalain 133 reviews

This little bar is my favorite. After a nice dinner, I like to go take a last drink or a good coffee... small and always full of people.

The waitresses are always nice and if you get to know them well (as we did), they become nice friends!!!

YOU BETTER MAKE A RESERVATION... or take a chance...

NOT SO GREAT
morgul profile photo

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

morgul 14 reviews

Brasov doesn't really have a night life. It's a quiet little mountain town (Soth Park pour les connaiseurs). No seriously.During the week there are not so many clubs opened and if they are opened they are pretty empty ,but you can find a lot of bars and pubs.In weekends there are a couple of nice clubs like Big Apple (near the Dramatic Theatre) , Sir Arthur at the end of Republicii Street and Harley Davidson on Muresenilor Street in the Old Center.
