Hello, my name is Jetgirly and I am a polentaholic. Lucky for me, both hostels I stayed at in Brasov were located just metres away from Piata Unirii and one of the best restaurants I visited on my trip- Casa Romaneasca. Warmly lit and decorated with a homey feel, this restaurant serves up authentic Romanian food that is loved by locals and in-the-know tourists. My first meal there was eaten on a very rainy evening, and Casa Romaneasca was truly a haven from the storm with its soft candles glowing behind foggy windows, and locals chatting in Romanian over the sounds of traditional folk music. Although the menu is decidedly meaty they were always happy to make something- anything- vegetarian for me, and I had wonderful farm-style vegetable soups, melt-in-my-mouth cheesy polenta, and tasty sauteed vegetables. The servers were very friendly and interested in knowing how a young Canadian girl traveling alone happened to end up in their restaurant! I can't recommend Casa Romaneasca enough- don't miss it on your trip to Brasov!

An Irish type pub very close to our hotel with a good outdoor area as well. Called in for a beer one afternoon and the menu looked ok so we returned in the evening.
Large and comfortable inside, food good and tasty with fast and friendly service. Another chocolate pancake to finish with for Mrs B as part of her ongoing survey!
Enjoyed our evening here.

Exploring the town and spotted a free table outside this popular restaurant. lunch solved!
Both went for salad, large and tasty with lovely fresh bread and a couple of beers, enjoyed.
Friendly and helpful service, pleasant outdoor area and a reasonable price, a good place to visit.

Lovely restaurant serving mostly traditional Romanian dishes. Looks quite classy as you enter, and really is, but the prices are very reasonable.
Food incredibly good, Mrs B able to find something vegetarian with no problem, and a bottle of house white for us here. Pancakes for dessert as well - a part of Mrs B's survey of Romanian chocolate pancakes!
Enjoyed our evening here, recommended.

This is a great restaurant. One of the best I've eaten at. The ambience is just perfect. The staff are professionally trained, polite, informed and never annoying. In fact there's a button by the table to call them if you need them, rather than have to get their attention, or be bugged about whether you need anything. What a great idea.
The food is excellent, imaginative, and you can mix and match between traditional Romanian and Mexican, and nobody will query whatever bizarre concoction you come up with. I had quesadillas and mashed potato. Probably sacriligeous to some, but it was exactly what I wanted at that moment, and it was fantastic.
The price was good too, less than 10 euros for a main meal. With the money I saved I bought a bottle of their most expensive local wine - only 12 euros. It was just the thing. A treat after a tough day waiting at the station in Sinaia - five hours and then standing on the crammed express for another hour or two.
There is a downside, and I'm not sure how they can fix it. The restaurant is in a cellar, which is divided up and lit just enough to give you a snug, convivial feeling, without being blind to what you can see. But the smoke from your neighbours cigarettes, with a heavy scent of oil heavy Romanian food, combine to leave your clothes and hair stinking.

If you are looking for intimate atmosphere, very good service, excellent food... then go to Bella Muzica .
You'll find it in an ex-cellar, right in the center of the city (near "Piatza Sfatului").
Favorite Dish: Every dish we tried there was very tasty and very well prepared.

Good ambience, good food, great prices. What more can I search for?
Favorite Dish: I had some great mămăligă (cornmeal mush) with cheese and cream, and it was delicious. Also, roasted mushrooms were great side-dish.

There's something about the sound of spoken Romanian, combined with the strong sunlight and overbearing warmth of the late summer, that makes everywhere feel like Italy, even if the hills are green and the buildings are distinctly German. The latin sounds take you away to... well maybe the Italian alps.
The locals have taken to pizza and pasta, and they make a decent stab of it. It's not the best I've eaten in the world, but the pizza I had at Venezia was very good, and certainly better than most pizza joints I've eaten at in Hungary. It's also a world away from the cheese on toast I had in Albania, or the kraft slices on supermarket pizza base I was served in Indonesia... but that's another story.
Good pizza, recommended by many, and a wonderful street location to eat just off the main square. You can't go wrong.

The best thing about Cafe Turabo is the location, and, on hot summer days, the hard working air-conditioning unit. The coffee is decent, the sandwiches are tasty, the decor is pleasant, and the music is relaxing and modern. The only problem was the staff, who, without being rude, didn't seem to be all that interested in serving customers.
It's a decent place to stop for a coffee and a break while touring the city.
