Another fantastic restaurant in Brasov. Unless I got lucky, the place seems to be crammed full of them. This time it was more of a pub, bar bistro kind of affair. Despite the pretentions to Frenchness in the name, the bar is definitely Germanic. It reminded me of my time living in Bavaria. All it needed to complete the feel was a waitress in a dirndl carrying trays filled with enormous glasses of frothing beer.
The waitress didn't have a dirndl, but she looked like she might be German. She certainly had the stereotypical efficiency of one, managing the orders of a bar full of people, all speaking different languages, all by herself, and never once getting grumpy.
The food was also great, especially the pancake that finished off the evening (and me). It's hearty food, with a solid local base and a French touch, but the menu is quite limited. But there's plenty of Ursus beer to wash it down with, and free Internet to fill in the time between orders.
Favorite Dish: Pancakes!

I don't know how to describe this delight...but it was one of our favorites. Crashed into this guy in the street and HAD TO TRY. He's like a hollowed out cinnimon sugar cover sweet roll. Very good, but very....sweet. Kinda makes you sick if you've been over snackin for 2 days. :D

The retaurant in the basement of the Hotel Bella Musica, is the best in Brasov. It is extremely popular, so make sure you reserve a table. If you just turn up, you probably won't get a table at all that night.
The restaurant is in a cellar, built 400 years ago. The menu includes Romanian, Mexican and Hungarian dishes. They let you choose the music. The arched, natural stone ceiling and walls, hung with lanterns, create a cozy, romantic atmosphere The bean broth in bread is a unique meal. A loaf of bread is carved out in the shape of a huge bowl, and filled with delicious soup.

Gustari Restaurant is a great place to eat Romanian food on Piata Sfatalui. It is much favoured by Brasov residents of all ages. Try the Speciality Brasov, which is a mixed stew of beef, pork, chicken and potatoes. They have some great desserts too, including ice cream and raisins wrapped in pancakes. Delicious!
Soups, which include veal and tripe soup, are 5,00 to 7,00 lei, main courses are between 10,00 and 16,00 lei, and desserts are around 5,00 to 6,00 lei. A half litre of beer is 4,50 lei, while a bottle of wine is typically 24,00 lei.

Favorite Dish: I tried spaghetti carbonara and it was really delicious. I liked it very much. I was so hungrary so I have could eaten anything, but anyway I recommend their pasta carbonara. So delicious.

If you plan to go online during your stay in Brasov, I can highly recommend the Cyber Cafe - Internet and Coffee Shop.
It has quick internet connections and all other other related facilities like printer and CD/DVD burner. Drinks are available as well.
The lady in charge is very friendly and speaks excellent English. Half an hour internet sets you back 1,20 RON, an hour costs 2,40 RON (about 0,75 Euro, 2007).
Opening times on weekdays are from 11:00 h to 22:00 h and on weekends from 12:30 h to 21:00 h

Built in a celler which is entered through a small doorway and stairs. We had a very attentive waiter who spoke English also. The food was excellent and well presented. I cannot eat anything with gluten, the staff were able to advise what was available for me from the menu.
Favorite Dish: I had a pork steak with country style potatoes. It was cooked to perfection and I would order again next time

One of the best restaurants with local food in Romania that's for sure. Not only you can find here the best examples of the Romanian traditional dishes, from sour creams, chicken, pork and all grilled, polenta, stuffed cabbages, together with home made bread, but the fresh air of the mountains will add and make you never forget Stana Turistica. Did I grow you an appetite? Well you should go there and test my words - the best open air restaurant in Romania.

Capra Neagra (Black Chamois) is a building complex consisting of a pizzeria, a restaurant and a discotheque. It is located in Poiana Brasov, a skiing resort just outside Brasov.
When we visited Poiana Brasov, we had a light lunch here. The restaurant consists of two very large rooms and a large outdoor terrace.
The furniture is kept functional. The place is probably very popular in the skiing high season.
The menu offers all sorts of local and international dishes. Pizza is available in the adjacent Pizzeria. I only had a beef soup (ciorba tar. vac) and a mineral water. The soup was yummy and warming on the wet cold October day. The bill for these two things was 10 RON (about 3 Euro, 2007).

Turabo Cafe is a franchise chain of fancy Romanian cafes. In 2007 they had 7 cafes all over the country, one of them in Brasov.
One morning we went to Turabo Cafe for a drink. It is located on the upper level of the shopping gallery "Galleriile Corona".
You can sit in comfy armchairs directly by the windows which are facing the Town Hall Square, so you will have an excellent view of what is happening outside.
They serve all sorts of coffee, beverages and cocktails. Snacks like salads, sandwiches and cakes are on the menu as well.
Unfortunately a hot chocolate was not available, so we decided to have black tea, which came with a small packet of honey.
With 6,50 RON (about 1,90 Euro, 2007) per tea it was about double the price than in other cafes. For western standards it is still relatively moderate, but for Romanian standards definitely expensive. However, the main reason to go here is the view of the Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului).
