The huge Gothic-style Black Church was built as a Catholic cathedral in the 15th Century, but it became Lutheran about 100 years later. It has been called the Black Church since a fire in the 17th Century destroyed part of it. They had the first bibles printed in Romanian.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to go inside, but I'm told they have an extensive collection of old Turkish carpets that is really worth seeing.

This large park is beautifully landscaped. Coats of arms from all the Romanian provinces are created in flowers, and there are peacock planters with bunches of flowers making his tail. There is a rose garden (not in bloom yet), a kids’ playground, fountains, and plenty of benches and tables.

Go up by cable car (transport tip) or if you're really energetic walk up! Lots of hiking trails once there and some fairly simple fotpath walking too. Great views over the city and surrounding areas plus, a chance to get close to the giant "Brasov" sign that overlooks the city.
Memorable visit.

Brasov's own Central Park, lovely place to spend some time on a warm day. It's in the city centre but not at all spoilt by traffic, there's plenty of quiet spots to find, watch the very serious chess games going on - thery're good at it!
The town Hall and main post office are also here.

Large and good looking square in the centre of town, the Black church at one end and the history museum / tourist office are the main attractions as far as the buildings are concerned, it's also a great place to people watch on a warn and sunny afternoon.
Also many bars and restaurants after your custom.
Spent a couple of afternoons here, lovely.

Look out for this mini guide, given away free in many hotels - if nothing else it has a good town map. We found useful info on things to see around the city and plenty of bars and restaurants (not sure how inpartial the reviews are though) listed as well.
Fast becoming a fan of these city guides.

We were there in midst of a snow storm, but that did not take away from the beauty of the square and the surrounding lovely old buildings in the city, . There are excellent cafes all around, and inside you can find both the tourist office and the Brasov History Museum, neither of which seemed all that busy.
The square is central for everything and is a great place to start or finish your walking trip around the city. The old town hall was built in 1420 and today serves as the Brasov History Museum.

The council square is a lovely square where it is nice to just sit down and relax and take in the beautiful merchant houses surrounding it. This is also said to be the spot where the legendary Pied Piper led the children of Hamlin.

My friend told me that she had to gasp for air when she saw this wonderful gate, with its slim towers. It is placed at the southeast side of the Medieval Fortress of Brasov, and was constructed in the year 1559, as one of the entrances into the fortress.
This medieval constructions has remained almost intact, in the original form.

There are six portals of the church, which are valuable art creations giving an imposing air to the famous building. The main entrance to the church is the West portal. The wooden door is surrounded by wonderful stone sculptures.
At the North side of the church, there are two portals, with remarkable architectural elements.
