Well, like in every city in Romania there are 2 types of taxis: ones that belong to a company ( Here in Cluj we have DIESEL, PRITAX, TERRAFAN, NOVA) and the ones that we call 'Rechini' - Tha Sharks :)
Category one have a fair price, the others... well... they will eat ya :) They usually reside at the train station or the airport.
How you can recognize these bad guys:
1) first of all they do not have any name written on their car. Only Taxi on top of it.
2) they have a price list sticked to the car's doors, but if you look at it carefully you will see the prices are pretty high.
Fun Alternatives: So, please, when you get to Cluj first check the name of the taxi company. If you can't find any good taxi, then try to call for example at the following number +40264 946 (It's DIESEL, I usually use it)

If you are in a hostel ask for any exhange money ..there are a lot ..but mostly charge you a interesting comission..so try to look for any that doesnt ..but at the same time ask for your right to get a paper with the real conversion... i troubled myself cos i asked for it and the elder woman didnt want to give me it !!! yes really !! it was my first day there and of course i still was confused with so much zeros in the banknotes!!

So hard to figure out how much is each because there is two conversion systems at the same time or the elder and newer currency running at the same time
The main thing is that the conversion among EURO and LEU (elder LEI ) is 3 per 1 more or less
the elder lei and now LEU is without 4 zeros...so you can have as a cashback banknotes of 10000 and 1 ..its the same its 0.33 euros or 50000 lei or 5 leu ...about 1.33 euros
If its funny after that come the little coins ..you have to collect a lot of them to be something usefull .... when you will be there for 3 days you begin to understand and use it easily !! lol

Many places in Romania, including, for example, the open air village museum in Cluj, have very reasonable entrance fees but then ask exorbitant 'photography taxes'. Often paying this tax is not worth it.
Fun Alternatives: Buy a post card if possible, if you insist on having a picture.
