Like many other thriving cities in Eastern Europe, also in Cluj Napoca you will find many construction sites or scaffolded sights.
I was especially disappointed that the controversial equestrian statue of Matthias Corvinus, which stands in a prominent location just in front of the Saint Michael Church was completly scaffolded during our visit.

The whole city got a new face in the last years.
The old shattered buildings were renovated, or raggedly and the streets were repaired, and extended.
Although this big work, there are still some streets, and old buildings, that were not yet repaired.
It is no more for a very long time, until all these relics of the old regime, will disappear.
But in anticipation of that, must be careful, to be no happening inconveniences, on these streets.

As in lots of ex-communism countries in Romunia is also prohibited to drink alcohol on street!
It looks that they have special police forces that are looking for violators. Luckely for me, they are also reasonable enough that if you are not to drunk they will not charge you.

US State department warns of packs of wild dogs that roam through the city streets of Romania, this actually is true, there are wild dogs everywhere. While I wouldn't recommend trying to touch any of them, they seem as harmless as New York City Pigeons.

Besides the good common sense measures, be aware that Hungary did occupied this side of Romania from Austrians in the Austrian Empire. When they lost all the teritories they previously conquered, Hungarians couldn't come to terms. A lot of revisionist stories float in the Hungarian minority, which raises anger with the Romanian majority, This is agravated by the fact that this area is the place of birth of the Romanian nation and the presence of the Roman Empire as shown in historical facts. Be Just a Tourist Not a Judge.
